pop warner & mgm ???

Hey Everyone--
I read somewhere earlier that MGM (or another park) closes down one day during Pop Warner week. Does anyone know when that is or when it is historically? I am trying to plan my week that we will be there & don't want to be shocked.

We were there 12/4-12/11/05 and the place was full with Pop Warner kids, but I don't remember any park being shut down. Just know I would never go that week again, it was very anoying to be on rides and hearing cheering, very loud, going on.

We are going 12/8-12/14 so we will only we there for a few of the days. I can handle the cheering--I am a cheer/gymnastics coach/choreographer (retired for the moment to have babies!).

I just want to plan around the park that will be closed (if it is??).

I have been there several times during pop warner week and I dont remember any park closing either. I think you are all set. As long as you can handle the cheering that is

I was there last year on a Friday at MGM Dec 10th I think and the park closed an hour earlier to stay open for the Pop Warner people. The hours had been posted as closing at 7pm, all the rest of the days of the week they closed at 8 I believe. They didn't say it was closing due to Pop, but all the kids kept comenting on they were having the park open later for them. If it matters in your planning, the dates for when Pop Warner was there last year had them leaving the next day after this Friday night event.

I was there one time on the day that Pop Warner had their evening party. It got very crowded in the late afternoon, I guess they were admitted early. Also, there was a sign that Osborne Lights closed promptly at 7:00pm.

MGM closes early to the general public the Friday during "Pop Warner Week". They have a private party for Pop Warner participants. I believe it started at about 8:00. It was VERY crowded last year and I heard that it may be divided into two nights this year. It's great fun for the participants!!

Thanks! Are any of your girls competing this year? DH would die if I asked him to go to the competition one day--he has had his fair share with me being the coach for so long. I had to stop for a few years since I had babies--just way too much time that I couldn't give to both my family and to the girls/guys. Maybe when my kids get a little older...

In '03, MGM was closed early one night for the kids. Probably either Sat or Fri...can't remember which. When we were there several weeks ago, MGM closed down at 7 in order to reopen at 8 for the Pampered Chef folks. That was on Sat the 25th.

Not sure!!! It's a qualifying event so we won't know until the end of November at Regionals (if they make it that far?!?). The competition is STIFF!!! If you do decide to "sneak away" to see the competition go on Friday when the Midgets compete. They are the "big girls" and some of the teams are AWESOME!!!
