We are going to POP in 3 days. :cool1:

We changed from POR to POP in order to extend our stay a couple of more days.

I have been reading some reviews on Debs site, and am getting a little concerned about POP.

Please give me your reviews on staying there.

Are the walls really paper thin and can you hear everything? Is it really noisy in the morning or late at night? Are the beds really that uncomfortable?
Does the airconditioning go off at night unless thier is movement in the room?

Thanks for all your help.

I've been twice. January, 06 and Sept. 07. We loved our stay both times. THe walls are not paperthin. I never heard any neighbors. Yes, occassionaly you will hear people walking by your door, but you hear that at any resort. My first stay I did hear the toilet flush above us, but it was in no way a nusiance. Everything Pop was soo fun to shop in and although the food court can be busy and the lines long, that's going to be any food court at peak times. We really enjoyed the selections at the food court over those at CBR, PO or CSR.
It's fun to walk through Classic Hall and see icons from your "era". When I was booking our Sept. 07 trip it was a no-brainer that we would be staying there. I saw an equal number of couples, families with no kids, older adults.

PS I didn' find it necessary to pay for a Preferred room, both times we stayed in the 70's section, which was close to the bus stop, pool and Classic Hall

 We've stayed at POP 4 times as well as mods and deluxes many times.

We liked POP, although it is beginning to show some wear and tear.

No complaints from us about the beds ~ most comfy beds were at GF, but all other resorts have been fine. POP does not have pillow top - unless they have recently replaced mattresses as they've done at some of the All Stars.

Not sure about the air conditioning as we were there in December and Feb, but I have read of guests keeping a balloon in the room for motion - not sure how that works because the balloon would need to be in just the right location.

I would suggest requesting a 4th floor room to avoid noise above (we always had a top fl room and noise from other rooms was never a problem.)

Or a first floor end room - at the end to help with noise and first floor because many have said that if a guest on a lower fl should smoke in the room it goes up through the vents and management cannot do anything about that. (never happened to us though).

We really enjoy a top floor lakeside room with a view of EPCOT fireworks - building 4 or 3 have great views.

Have a wonderful trip...and do not hesitate to ask management to take care of any issues that may arise. :)

If you go with the spirit of the resort it will be fun!! We absolutely love walking by Lady and Tramp on the way to/from our room :)

It is a fun resort and most of the CM's are terrific!

Will look forward to hearing all about it when you return!!

As my daughters would say "OMG nothing to worry about" We are going to POP in Dec for our 2nd time. Yes like you the first time we worried about it too. But we absolutely enjoyed it and this is where we plan to keep coming back when in WDW. WHY YOU ASK? Here goes, the super large icons all around the buildings of different decades are neat for the kiddos to learn about what was "in" for that decade. A MAJOR PLUS is that POP buses DO NOT share with other resorts, they go straight to and from the parks. Rooms are clean, they arent huge but the size of any other hotel we have stayed at on vacations other than WDW, so this was fine with us. It did get a little noisey at times but nothing that didnt settle itself down shortly afterwards. Rooms are not paper thin........Need I say more, relax and ENJOY your POP stay. Why pay more if all you are really going to do is sleep in the room?? This thank god is what my family and I all agree on. You will be at the park most of the time. This is an excellent choice of resort to stay. Hope this helps you out.

You will have a great time. The values are set up for fun!! That's what you are at WDW for anyway. We've stayed at WDW over 50 times, all different price ranges, with 9 of those at POP. We stay there the most because I like it and I'm the reservation maker. It's fun!!! We've had no problems with the air cutting off, the walls being thin, or the beds not comfortable. All of our stays at POP have been great!! If you don't want to "hear the toilets flushing in the next room", almost close the bathroom door and then you won't hear it. (To tell you the truth, I have really good hearing but I don't stay awake listening to the toilets flushing:thumbsup2 )

Have a great stay!!!

We absolutely LOVE POP! It's not everyone's cup of tea, but when we're at WDW, it's where we want to be! (Although I will admit when I vacation other places I do occasionally enjoy more deluxe amenities ;) )
I've never been bothered by the things you mentioned. I always book 4th floor so the noise won't be a problem. The beds are not pillowtop, but are not hard as rocks either. We sleep well - maybe just because we're exhausted from our days in the parks. Never noticed a problem with AC at night, but we do always have a balloon in the room.
Relax-you'll be staying at the most FUN resort on Disney property IMHO. The CMs are great. Atmosphere is unique. Accommodations are comfortable and well above average for a value resort.
My 2 minor negatives about POP (certainly not enough to keep us away) are the bus stops at the parks (POP is always the last stop and therefore the longest hike from the park - tough after a long day. But bus service from POP is great!) and then there's the delivery pizza (Beware of the stuff - - don't be tempted and especially don't waste 2TS credits on it if you're on the DDP! The food court has some really yummy choices.)
Have a great trip!

We stayed @Pop for the first time in May 2007...my husband is a hotel snob (we previously stayed at Wilderness Lodge) but is also cheap...cannot justify paying $$$ for a room we are hardly in....enjoyed our week long stay in May so much we took my family (my Mom is a clean freak!) for Christmas and stayed two weeks! Going back in September with a bunch of girlfriends (Disney Divas!) to celebrate a 40th birthday! Mousekeeping is great! Food Court is great, although can get really crowded. Bus service is great (wish the Pop bus stops at the parks weren't so far away though.) Enjoy!:thumbsup2

If you go into this worried about finding something wrong with the hotel -- I can just about guarantee you will. So try not to concentrate on negative reviews and keep an open mind. POP is what it is, one of the lowest price resorts on Disney property, but we've stayed there four times and will be returning for the fifth visit in August. I think it's an excellent value and they do a great job maintaining the resort considering the millions of people that pass thru it's doors. Don't worry, everything will be fine.

This is my 400th Post!!! :) Pop all in all is really good, excellent bus service, always clean... only problem i found this last trip is that i didnt pay for preferred, and i was stuck in the 80's section, room 7111... very far away from everything... had to use the parking lot for a cut through... so to me it didnt feel like i was at a disney resort... only because the last time i was there i DID pay for perferred and i was in the 60's building, and everyday i would pass through the main buildings where the food and registration was to get to the buses... so it felt very disney then.....

But overall, yes i would recommend.... esp. if you are like me and don't ever spend anytime in the room!! :)

If I may add a couple of Disney Dollars worth of comment regarding the Popster. It's a wonderful resort and the walls are not paper thin. Regarding the infamous Turbo Toilets, some people hear them, we never did. We did hear people as they were walking past our room to their own room, but you will hear people talking as they pass your door anywhere you stay. I WILL comment, however, about the showers and "terlets" in the mods and the deluxes (specifically, the CR) - we heard them both. At all hours. Nothing like someone taking a half-hour shower at 5:00 AM and you're still trying to sleep ;) . So, in my own little opinion, no matter where you stay chances are you will hear something that you may find distracting, but if the overall opinion of your resort du jour is favorable than any small distraction you experience may be relatively slight in the grand scheme of things. Pop Century is a bright and fun and active resort, and I really think you'll enjoy it. They even have bunnies!!!

We stayed at POP in April and loved it. Great pools, great food court, great arcade...those were probably our favorite things. Having a POP-only bus was fabulous, even if it was always the bus stop the furthest away from the entrance to the park...oh well. We didn't have any noise issues...I mean, it's a hotel, we're going to hear a door slam or some voices every once in a while, but I expect that. Enjoy yourself at POP, it's big and colorful and fun!

Thank you all so much !!!!!

My DH has always wanted to stay here, but I being the one making the reservations always opted for a mod. ;)

This time he got his way because it meant I could spend two more days at Disney if I gave up POR.

I am excited to stay there now, due to all your great reviews.

Thanks again, and I'll let you know how things go.

We leave in 2 days.
