OK a bit overwhelmed by all the info on Pop. We will be there August 25 to 30. We have only been to WDW once before, stayed at POR last March.

Looking for a room fairly close to the hippy dippy pool and food court but not "preferred". Heard you can see fireworks from some buildings. Suggestions?
Thank you!!!

60s section facing the lake is best. we had the playdough building. it was awesome! preferred rooms face the main pool while non preferred rooms face the lake. I like facing the lake cause its super quiet while still keeping you close to the main building & pool.

We were in 80's by the quiet Key Board pool. This would not meet your needs...
Not what you asked for, but it may help you narrow it down...

80s is definitely VERY far from everything. Lets put it this way, if i were in 80s and had to go to the main building, id drive there!

Our last time at Pop we had Bldg 5 (Mowgli and Baloo), that is adjacent to the HDP. Got our request of Epcot View (which is from the lake side), and could see the higher parts of Illuminations fireworks. Just having the lake view was nice, it gets you out of the hubbub, but in that building you're still close to the action! :thumbsup2

Good luck with your requests!! :cheer2:

We have stayed in this location as well and loved it!! Short walk to the pool and main building and on some nights we caught some Epcot fireworks. It's super quiet on that side of the building too. Perfect for naps :). Have fun!

50's section behind the tramp, bldg 3facing the lake, second floor was perfect.close to everything and was not preferred. Loved this location!!!!

ive never requested any rooms, i just go where they plop me, but i did check on it for our upcoming trip. i was told the 80's building (not poolside) was the only standard rooms they had. 4 levels total...1st level-preferred poolside, 2nd level-preferred(50s-60s-70s) 3rd level-Standard poolside, 4th just standard. 4 different levels-4different prices......honestly i would like lakeside but will not pay for it (not even at our resort for epcot fireworks) are these levels new for this year?:confused3

This actually made me LOL!! :rotfl2:
But it is so TRUE!! and is exactly how I feel!! Honestly, I must admit that being stuck in the 80's/90's section would ruin my vacation...:sad1: But I have significant mobility issues. So being that far away from the bus stop/food court is a huge deal for me.

I just checked out of POP a little over a week ago... I was in the 60's section (bldg 5) ground floor, lake view. So it was a standard room. I LOVED IT. I have stayed in this row of rooms before and have always been pleased. Here is the view from just outside my room...Very quiet and peaceful!!

You only had to walk under the walkway where the elevators where and you were right at the hippy dippy pool!! And it was very convenient to the food court and bus stops! I think it was a perfect location, I couldn't have been more pleased!!!

Love the view you had from your room! wow! I was in the same building but on the third floor. Loved it.

so the 60s is plain ol standard room?

i think the ones on the back sides of the buildings are considered standard but the ones facing the pool are preferred.

Yup!!
The 60's bldgs are the only ones with all 3 price categories as you can see if you look at the map referenced in the immediate previous post.
The preferred pool view which is the Most expensive (and the one I would want the LEAST because it can be NOISY even at night during the summer especially if there are groups there) then preferred and then standard...
My picture is from a standard room on the backside of bldg 5 just a couple of rooms beyond the cut-through for the elevator which would be just under the characters which are positioned directly in the middle of the bldg. I think it was a GREAT location. :goodvibes

And yet... using a tape measure on the map provided, on my iTouch the furthest 80's room from the bus icons ranges from 1-1/8" to 1.5". The corresponding/opposite 50's building distance to the buses ranges between (everybody ready?) 1-1/8" to 1.5"!

That just makes no sense on so many levels - no pun intended. Pool view is pool view no matter what floor you're on. Use the map on the first page of this thread to determine what areas are special categories and which aren't.

That was what I was thinking. If you cut threw the parking lot to everything pop it is actually not that bad of a walk.

to kaytieeldr.....im just as confused...i wasnt meaning the actual levels of the rooms. i meant there is 4 price levels...so i want anyone outhere to please humor me and price a pop century vacation..say, 5 days or so, open up room type and tell me how many price levels...:confused3

Yes, there are 4 room categories (price levels) at Pop.

Standard (not as close to food court/bus)
Preferred (close to food court/bus)
Standard Pool View (view of the pool - not as close to food court/bus)
Preferred Pool View (view of the pool - close to food court/bus)

Does that help?
