Okay--we are staying at Pop in December--got free dining. Three adults and a tall 13 year old. One adult does not want to share a bed and we have always been able to put a twin blow up mattress in the rooms at Pop. This trip we will also have a scooter as one of the adults is handicapped. I have been looking at videos of these rooms. Not only do I not see how we will put a blow up mattress I also see no room for a scooter. I am also a little concerned with the edges of the platform bed. I really do cherish my shins and being older I get up 3 or more times a night to use the bathroom. This room that was small to begin with looks really cramped now with the queen beds. Anyone out there have experience with the scooter? If need be the adult that doesn't want to share a bed will just have to suck it up. I am really nervous about this.

There are a couple of spots where a scooter can fit -- near the window, between the TV/dresser and coffee stand, or in front of the connecting door (or that area if not connecting).

The air mattress is what will be a challenge, though I think there is a thread around here somewhere showing a picture of an air mattress near the door/window. It appears to at least partially block the door from opening, and also has the bottom corner under the bed. I don't think a double-high air mattress will fit.

As for shins -- easy solution is for you to sleep in the bed nearest the bathroom. That way you shouldn't have to worry about walking around the opened murphy bed and banging your shins.

Enjoy your vacation!

There is information about the new rooms with a scooter on the disABILITIES Forum. I would ask there
Thanks. I don't travel often with our handicapped friend, mostly because she doesn't travel often, so I didn't even realize there was a thread just for disAbilities. I also was not aware of roll in showers at Pop. Now I know what I have to do for her. We are going to need an HA room. Especially now that they have put doors on the tubs instead of shower curtains. It makes it really hard to swing her leg in with a door.

In my opinion after staying at Pop in a refurbished room, I don't see how you are going to fit a blow up mattress and a scooter in the room at Pop. The beds went from 2 full size to 2 queen size and the platform that the pull down Queen is on sticks out further. There is only about 2 feet between the two beds and you have 2 chairs to deal with when the bed is down.

The only place that I can see where you could put the scooter when the blow up mattress is out is in the bathroom in front of the sink and do you really want to climb over a scooter to get to the bathroom?

The problem with the refurb. is that the beds are larger and that reduces the overall space in the room in all of the pathway areas where you would put a scooter and a mattress.

All WDW resorts offer various styles of HA rooms. They are a separate bookable category, so you want to be sure and book a room with the accessible features your friend needs. Don’t just “request” that on a regular reservation.

Here is a link to the disABILITIES Forum if you or she have any questions during your planning.

I just called Disney and got the reservation straight. I have never really thought about accessibility issues. They changed us to a room without shower doors. As far as the scooter/bed issue---we will deal with that when the time comes. The adult that doesn't like to share will just have to "adult" for a week.

I was thinking the same thing, best thing would be to request 2 connecting rooms. I can’t see 4 adults sharing 1 room, even without a scooter. I think it will be a much more pleasant vacation with everyone comfortable and not cramped into 1 room.

We stayed in a refurbished room and had 2 scooters. One was parallel parked between the dresser and the bathroom wall. The other in front of the window. I think you could do it but it will definitely be a little cramped.
