POP may no longer have the best Bus service

Glad to hear it. When we were at POP last September, we thought we saw some action/movement going on over there.

I think this is a smart move by WDW.

I disagree. It wouldn't be reasonable for Walt Disney World to assign one bus to serve 4,824 rooms with a potential 25,000-plus Guests (based on 157 king bed rooms at Pop plus an estimated five percent of the 824 rooms at Animation Inn and Suites having king beds - I get a potential 25,966 Guests on a sold-out night, not counting the one child under age three each room is also allowed ;)).

I believe as two separate resorts, each will have its own buses.

I always thought, with the success of the family suites, that this was a perfect use for the abandoned POP project. After all, they had those 2 buildings up as well as the check in/reception building.

I would guess that this will be a mixed bus situation. Sharing during "slow times of the day and separate during openings and closings.

If they share at closing, NO THANKS. Even by itself, Pop is a nightmare at park closing. Just too many rooms for one bus stop.

(I'm not talking about right after fireworks, I'm talking about an hour AFTER late EMH officially ended, still a zoo!!!)

DH would rather stay on 192 than stay at Pop. It was so bad.

We'll try a standard room at the new resort, but will hold judgement until then.

Excepting AKL, resorts either have more then 2 bus stops or share buses with more then one other resort. CBR is adjacent to POP but they never share buses. Disney is going to be opening the new resort in sections. I'm sure the new resort will be sharing buses with another resort (POP?) while it's being constructed.

Imagine how fast a DME bus dedicated to both hotels will fill up. Maybe combining the resorts during the slow time of day will result in better service to DTD and the water parks. This could make the bus service better.

Shared buses are likely to come more often. This is almost intuitive at the times when there are more guests than a shared bus can handle by coming every 20 minutes but fewer guests than will fill separate buses every 20 minutes.

We have started renting a car when we fly to Florida, so I don't have to worry about the buses. I really don't have the patience for the bus schedule/set-up anymore.

Agree, that during heavy use times they will have a designated bus, just like they do for the All Stars.

I doubt they would ever share busses. When this resort opens, everyone will want to try it and it will probably sell out even in low seasons like Pop does now.
Pop will probably slip to #2 and still run close to full.
Each resort is big enough that with high occupancy I do not think they could get by with sharing busses the way they do at the All Stars.

The Art of Animation Resort sounds like All Star Movies to me! I don't know why Disney needs to "break ground" - since the buildings they will use are already partially built.

The thing is, the whole bus sharing by the All Stars is blow waaaaaaay out of proportion! After 3 stays at the All Stars, during different times of year, I have found they have their own busses way more often than they share.

I'm not sure who started that myth: People who stay at the All Stars because they want to keep others away from them, or people who stay at the Pop, just because they are jealous.;)

I would never choose a resort based on bus service alone. Any resort can have a sucky transportation day. Choosing a resort because you are expecting it to have stellar bus service is just setting yourself up to be disappointed.

They are planning more rooms than buildings built. Now There are foundations poured for a couple more buildings already but not all the planned buildings. I'm sure that all of the planned "Legendary Years" buildings will be completed and the partially completed buildings modified for suites. Same project, different theming.

The 3 ASR combined have about 5300 rooms + 215 suites; the total capacity of Pop and Animation will be in the same ballpark, counting suites as 1.5 rooms.

No reason they can't do the same bus set-up: separate buses when needed and feasible; shared buses during the day.
