It's definite we are staying at Pop Century (paid for it today) but I am still abit unsure about staying onsite. Any tips or hints would be appreciated as it will be our first time.

We stayed @ POP for a week in August and LOVED it !!!! We loved the food court, the Hippy Dippy Pool with it's water sprays and loved the piped in music from the 50's -90's !!! It was like a walk down memory lane ! The resort was clean ,well manicured and decorated in nice bright colors and icons !!! It was very kid friendly, too( If you have kids they will love it!)A great deal for the money. We stayed in the 50's section ,by request and got room 1408...closest building to the pool and food court ,without being in a 60's preferred bldg. We were on the 4th floor ,but next time I'd prefer the 2nd floor... room 1208 .You'll LOVE IT ...Happy Planning :flower:

Since we had been to WDW many times before DD9 and myself loved hopping on a bus or the Monorail and resort hopping ...we loved getting off at other resorts and checking out the grounds and shops etc.It gave us a better idea of what all the other resorts were like....but IMHO ,POP is the best resort for the $$$. :flower:

I have booked for Pop next time and it will be my 1st time onsite and I cant wait :bounce:

By all accounts once you've been on-site you never go back :teeth:

How do you go about requesting a specific year? BA have told me I should receive the voucher is about 10-14 days.

I stayed at the Pop last August for 14 nights and loved it. It is wonderful. Very clean, a great food court with good choice. Take a walk around the resort when you get there, you will see such great Icons. :cheer2:

It was my daughters birthday just before we got there, and on our 2nd day, when we got back to the room, there were balloons and a birthday card from Donald Duck for her, I did not request this, just a bit of Disney Magic. :wizard:

I requested the 50's building, with a top floor, and double beds not King,non-connecting room. I faxed them on this number (407) 938-4040.

They suggest that you dont fax until about 3-4 days before you are due to go, so that it goes direct to the reservations manager at the hotel the week you are due to arrive. They are not guarenteed requests, but I have to say on this occasion I was very lucky as I got what I requested.

Make sure you put what is most importent to you first, and Im sure they will do what they can to accomodate you.

I picked up absolutly loads of tips and information from the Disney Resorts Boards on the following link for the Pop.

Hope this helps, if you need any more info, please let me know.

Thanks Sue, I shall definately be having a look at the link. It will be our first time onsite and at the moment I am going from feeling excited to my 'whatif mood' when I start thinking what if we don't like it, what if we don't like any of the food, what if the walls are paper thin and it's noisy.... :rotfl2:

I know what you mean, I went through the exact same thoughts, but honestly I am sure you will love it, I had people underneath me and to each side of me and I did not hear anything, honestly Im sure it will be fine. If you want to know anything else about the pop, I will do my best to try and help.

we pad extra for a prefferred room which was very close to the food hall, in the building that has mogli in frount of it, we were on the corner right next to the main building

LOL Cazzie - that is exactly how I felt before staying at ASMo (which is pretty similar to Pop I imagine from a noise & paper thin walls perspective)

Anyway, it was fine. Whether my expectations were carefully managed beforehand because I had read some horror stories on here, I don't know. But to be honest we found the noise levels pretty similar to other "motel" (external corridors) accommodations we had stayed in before.

The only thing is that the rooms are smaller. That didn't bother us, but I thought I would mention it as I know some people find it a surprise ;) I think maybe we are just used to smaller rooms in the UK!

I absolutely love staying onsite. I hope you will too :goodvibes

The walls were not paper thin ,but you could occas. hear a toliet flush...it seems as though they have industrial strengh toliets in all the WDW hotels. Housekeeping was great and left DD9 little towel animals every day and rearranged them with her own little Disney souvineers. We were on the Dining Plan which I highly recommend !!!!There are enough selections to choose from in the food court for everyones taste and many selections are so big that you can share them among 2 people. Also, we bought the "refillable mugs",good for coffee and soft drinks..unlimited, a great value I think !!! What month are you going in ? :flower:

Thanks again Sue, I am sure it will be fine really. We decided to stay onsite as we are giving Universal a miss this time, having been twice last year I don't think either of us was too bothered about going again so soon. We shall still be going to Sea World but this should not be a problem as we can get the bus from the transportation centre.

I know this is going to be different in that we will be able to get to the parks a lot easier than waiting for the bus on the I Drive and therefore hopefully we can catch a couple of hours r & r during the day instead of trying to cram everything in before getting the bus back at the end of the day. Looking forward now to all the planning. :Pinkbounc

You will love it Cazzie, we came home at the weekend after our first visit there and we thought it was great. We were in the 90's building, right beside the Computer pool, which was very quiet, and a quick walk through the car park to the buses. We will definately be going back.

Staying on-site is loads of fun, you can use Disney's buses, and get to go to the Extra Magic Hours at the different parks

I requested the 50's room when we arrived. She showed us a map of the resort at check in and showed us the room location.(#1408) I was very happy with how close we were to "Everything Pop" and the pool!!! If you are going during a busy season then I think maybe you should fax them ahead as another poster recommended. :flower:

Ooooh reading all your replies I am definately getting excited... :wizard:

I shall have a look at the dining plan as their are just the two of us and Alan is a really plain and picky eater (mind you I am not much different) so I have to spend some time trying to find some places to eat that will suit. I shall be getting the refillable mugs (that will be my first job).

We are going the 11 May for 2 weeks so I am hoping it won't be overflowing. ;)

That sounds like a PERFECT time of year to go....and you get to stay for 2 weeks... Lucky you !!!On the Dining plan you get more than your moneys worth of food so you'll have to look into that . But I'll tell you that you can experience alot of different dining experiences for the price you pay. DD9 and myself had just about one major dining experience each day ( Character meals, O"Hana's @ the Poly, Hoop-de do Review, Sci-fi Drive In...just to name a few)and knowing it was all paid for before hand was the best. :flower:

We had the hotel voucher yesterday from BA, so now I shall have to start planning as this is going to be different from our last two holidays. :)
