POP Century~Unofficially the Grooviest FAQ Thread #8~July 2013

We booked Bb for FD when we left at POR. We added Universal at cabana bay so in order to save some funds. We are staying at pop part of me is relieved. LOL. I should have just booked there in the first place. We had a couple of minor issues but nothing from keeping me from going back.

Which building/floor should a single gal traveling solo request at POP?
I'd rather not be by a pool,
I'd rather be in a quieter area (if that exists lol)

and should I call the reservations hotline to add a request to my reservation (its already in place) or just wait until I show up and hope they can accommodate me? (in Dec)

We check in Friday. If you see any of the these magnets on a door at Pop leave me a note on my dry erase board.:goodvibes

:rotfl: This has been a hot topic since I've been following the thread.

The consensus is that Disney is replacing them at POP but is not finished as of yet. I would guess they will be done by the time December rolls around but hard to say if I will get one when we arrive in 4 days!!

Thanks! I hope they're replaced, I can't live without a fridge lol! :rotfl2:

Hello!
We are going to the Pop Century in 2 weeks. We reserved the Standard Pool view. I was told I could not request a room in the 60's because those were Preferred pool view :(

Any room suggestions?

Thanks!!!

When and where do I put in a request to a specific building? TIA

Call the main reservation line and add any requests to your reservation. You can do anytime from the day you book up until 4-5 days before you arrive.

I'm so envious! I love trip reports in real time! Could you check on two things for me: 1. What's the distance from the floor to the window ledge (I'm creating window decorations for my December stay). 2. Do they have White Citrus iced tea in the food count? It's the only place I've seen it and I look forward to it every trip! I'm worried that they got rid of it with the new Rapid Refill System. Thank you and I hope you continue to have great vacation!!!!

Happy gal - can you share your ideas for the window decorations? Would love to do it also!!

Maybe we'll see you there. I requested 60's but only paid for standard, who knows where I'll end up.;)

We requested 80's with a standard pool view. So we'll see....a cm told me that she also put on my reservation that I wanted a room with a fridge and it didn't matter what building. So I guess we'll find out Saturday where we end up. I wish there was a way we could all identify each other as DISers! That woukd be fun!

I've stayed in a 4th floor pool view in the 50s, building 1. It was quiet. The only thing I did not like was having to walk through the designated smoking area that is located on the main path from the 50s section to the food court. I didn't think the walk was too far and we had our own car so parking was close.

Are you sure you want pool view? It can be very noisy. Plus if you stick with a standard pool view, you will be in the 80's or 50's building. I would ask for standard 60's. That way you will be super close to the Hippy Dippy pool without paying extra money and it may be quieter. :goodvibes

I just left a first floor lake view room in 50s, building 3. It was very quiet, I barely heard anyone else all week, but then again I was doing 12-16 hour days in the parks nearly every day, haha. I think I could have slept through a hurricane.

We did not have a fridge when we arrived Saturday (70s section, building 6). I went to the front desk and requested one. When we came back from the park a few hours later we had one. It was turned to high so everything froze over night but I pulled it our and adjusted the knob in back and it's working great now.

36 hours to go!!!
Just did online check in.
We're in a preferred room and requested ground floor near transportation. Anyone want to predict where we'll end up?

Another vote for 50's, building 3...we were on the lake side but it wasn't a direct view. Quiet location and close to both the 50's pool and the 60's pool. It was actually close to the area where the little trucks run linens and things to the buildings but I kind of liked that - otherwise we wouldn't have had any noise. :)
