We never ever bring this much luggage but the cruise is making me pack more than normal.:rotfl:.

what the heck are you packing for a cruise? We use less packing for a cruise then we do a land vacation-- cabins are much smaller then you normally have with a room at disney

take half those clothes and go get more money

Here at Pop now. We checked in last night, in building 6. The fridge in the room had a note on it saying do not use but I called mousekeeping and they brought me a fridge. My son is 13 months and drinks a lot of milk (and not much real food unfortunately) so it was declares medically necessary.

Glad u were able to get one:) we check in next wk and put a request in.
Do u know if they started the new soda RIFD machines and can u get water from them if they do? I don't drink any soda so cold water is a must since i may not have a fridge to keep water cold in my room

Reports are the new RFID machines are installed at Pop but are not active with the chipped mugs yet. They are working with the current mugs. Regardless you can expect that cold water will not be subject to the RFID system.

Sorry if this was already answered in older posts but I'm a little confused about the RFID? If your on the DDP they give you the refillable mugs, but do you still have the purchase the refillable days on it or are we allowed to just refill it our entire stay since on the ddp?:confused3

The RFID system has not started yet, but even when it does, your mug and refills are included in your dining plan. There is no extra cost for you. :thumbsup2

I can do my online check in in 3 days for POP....this will be my first time staying there and first time using online check in so a little help from you will go a long way!!!!
So far this is what I'm thinking of requesting(not sure either how specific I can be with online check in)

choice #1
50's building 3-Tramp
do not want to be facing the parking lot
can I request a floor level??

choice #2
70's building 6
facing Baloo 60's building 5

Where exactly are the laundry facilities at POP....am I close with either of my choices?

I have not done online check-in since they went to the new system, so I'm not sure what the options are for requests. I do know the old system was very limited. Your best bet is to call and have your requests added to your reservation. The CM will be able to enter more details than you will be able to online.

From post #5 of this thread.

Washers/dryers are available in the poolside bathroom buildings located in the 50s, 60s, and 90s. These are coin operated and are available 24 hours; however, a room key is required for access after 9:00 pm (there are change machines in the bldg).

Laundry products are available for purchase in vending machines and also Everything Pop.
$2 each for the washer and approximately a 20 minute dryer cycle
No seating available in laundry bldg.

Just booked POP for 8/8/14 -8/23/14 - Feels so good to be going back to POP! So excited!!!

Just booked a trip in 2 weeks, so excited! :cool1:

Last time we were there, in 2009, the AoA was not even started. We walked across the bridge over the water and walked around the area that wasn't roped off. It was so strange to see it all abandoned and deserted.
Now we are so excited to see it all finished and full of life!

Are we allowed to still walk over from POP?
We would love to walk around and see it, go to their gift shop and food court.
Are we allowed to use their pools too?

Thanks!

Read back a few pages, but I am confused.

What are these bands I am reading about? Are these the new bands that are your pass, key, charge card, etc..?

How do I get them, or do I want them?
How do they work with FastPasses?

Thanks

Yes, you can walk across the bridge. You can explore the grounds, shop and eat at the food court, but pool hopping is not allowed. Have a great tip! :goodvibes

Awesome thanks!

We stayed at ASMo one year, and I knew pool hopping was allowed then at ASM, ASSp, and ASMo, so I thought maybe it was the same at Pop and AoA.
Thanks!

Yes they are new and are only in test phase for certain resorts next month. They basically take the place of your KTTWC. If you aren't going next month you aren't eligible. Right now they are in test phase. There is alot of info on the theme park and attractions board about them if you need more info.

Will all that my magic bands have shipped and will be here Monday. I'm so excited to be a tester.

Oh lucky. I missed the test month for POP by a month. We are going in sept. Can't wait to hear how you like them. From what I have heard from other testers they liked it.

With online check-in, you should expect to be able to request sections (such as 50's or 70's) but not specific building numbers. For that you will need to call to add a building number to your reservation.

You should be able to select a floor level during online check-in, but if you're calling you can do that too.

Even with online check-in, if you arrive and your room assignment isn't what you requested, it can be redone. I've done this twice, once at Pop and once at All-Star Movies. With both they granted my ground floor request but not my building request, but I was able to get the building changed in both cases.

We stayed at ASMo one year, and I knew pool hopping was allowed then at ASM, ASSp, and ASMo, so I thought maybe it was the same at Pop and AoA.

Pool hopping is fine at the All-Star resorts, but not at Pop/AoA. Maybe over time it may change, but for now it's separate pools for separate resorts.

Since AoA was originally supposed to be the second half of POP, may people thought they would act as sister resorts. However, that thought quickly disappeared once they gated the AoA pool.

Hi everyone! I'm planning my first trip to Disney in Jan! I can't decide if we should stay at POP or not..it looks cool. Why do you all love going thew and keep coming back?? Also, does it have a "cheap" hotel feel??

Do you have kids?

We stay at POP for many reasons. The first is, we want a Value resort. We only sleep and shower and sometimes swim at the hotel, so we don't want to spend a bunch of money when we will be at the parks the whole time.

Our kids love it. We looked at Moderates, and they didn't like the feel.

We like the bus system, one bus stop out front. We don't get on the bus and then have to stop at 6 other spots in the same resort to pick up/ drop off other people.

We love the food court. Not fancy food, but a good variety. Good prices, good choices, easy.

The kids can get around by themselves, all on foot. Easy to get to pools, food court, arcade, gift shop, bus.

Its a fun feel. It is Disney. If I wanted a fancy posh hotel, I would go somewhere fancy. I want Disney fun in everything. From the big statues, the music, the pools, the décor, I want it to be all Disney, and it is!!

Is that still the case with Art of Animation nearby? So Pop and AoA each get their own buses?

Yes each resort has their own bus. I've read that sometimes they share but I never experienced that in October.
