I wanted to book preferred, but nothing was available. How far are the furthest rooms from Food Court/Transportation? Also, are the views mostly parking lot?

We were on the back side of the 50's building. It really wasn't all that far of a walk to the main building at all. I swear the walk was twice as far at All Star Music. We had a lake view and could see fireworks every night. We were really happy with standard.

Preferred vs standard is really about distance. Might be parking lot, more likely to be a courtyard or the lake.

I used to feel like 80s/90s was a haul, but after my walk at CBR this morning from Trinidad North to the Customs House I'm gonna stop whining! Lol. The walks are all do-able.

POP is under renovation, the 90's building are being renovated right now, so that leaves the 80's as the farther standar rooms from the main buildings, the 50's are standard farthest after that.
All others are not that far from main building, on the bright side you might consider to get if available a 90's new refurbished room!

Many lake-view rooms are standard and close to transportation and food court. My favorite area is standard -- 70s lake-view.

Me too! We have gotten this request many times. It was perfect, short walk to food court, and its very quiet back there. For my birthday trip we were at the end of the building, super quite, no one walking by the room and I had a water view from bed. It was very nice. Our first time to Pop we walked in and it was so loud in the lobby, a dance party or something. My mother in law asked the CM for a quiet room, and they put us in the back side of building 7. It was so quiet back there!

I always book standard rooms and ask for 60's lakeview. My second choice is usually 70's lakeview. I usually get what I want. Lakeview at pop is so pretty. :)

We just booked a Preferred room/Pool View at Pop. Planning to call Disney tomorrow to put in a request to stay either in building 4 or 5?. What floor and part of the building would you request for, for those who have stayed there. What do you recommend as back up?

A few years back I booked a standard room and then when I did the online check in I requested close to transportation and (I think) close to Community Hall. We were in a corner room of the 90's and it only took us 5 minutes to get to the bus or community hall walking.

Preferred Pool View rooms at Pop are on either side of the Hippy Dippy pool (building 4 & 5? I believe)
It is close to everything, but definitely a busier location. You will have the pool noise and nightly movies. We stayed PPV Nov 2015, 2nd floor, it was not terrible, but definitely noticed that it was a higher traffic area than lake view. We are going again in June. In order to get the summer meal QS deal, we had to book PPV again. I will be requesting the top floor to help a bit with the noise.

You're right, it's building 4 and 5. What time do the nightly movies end?

I am not sure of movie times during different times of the year. In November, they were over by 10 pm I think. So if you are in the parks later, you probably wouldn't even notice. I have one who is not a night owl and we like to rope drop, so we were in bed most nights by 9-10 pm last trip. Looking to be out and about a bit later in June.

The movies weren't loud, but a slight muffled sound in the room. The inflatable screen was between the Hippy Dippy Pool and the baby pool. Pretty much, right where our room was. But if we had the TV on we didn't even notice.

Last month we had two standard connecting rooms in 50's building 3, third floor lake view. It was a quick and easy walk to Century Hall (food court, bus stop) and a quiet location as well. Based on our experience, I wouldn't pay to stay preferred at Pop.
