I posted this in the main resort area, but thought that I'd also ask here because if you've never had a back problem then you just don't understand how a bad mattress can ruin a trip!

I've never stayed there but was planning to until I started reading several posts about the mattresses. I saw that even the ones that were changed out or 'new' had problems. My back is my main liability. It affects me very much to the point that I will have to use a scooter while in the parks and can't pull a suitcase even - so I need to know if I should not even consider Pop if it has bad mattresses. If it does, then I think we'll go to CSR. Of course, I'm sure that you can find bad mattresses in all the resorts - but this is one thing that can totally ruin my trip. And I would hate to have that happen right off the bat! Please post if you had problems in Pop and if you have stayed at CSR or Caribbean moderates and know if they are better.

TIA

You might want to define what you mean as a "bad mattress". Personally for me I like a firm/hard mattress so those soft pillowtop ones are bad for me.

A bad mattress is one where it is lopsided or you roll into the middle or off one end. I've read where people commented that some are so used that they have visible indentations from such over use. I don't mean soft or hard. Bad - meaning coils poking you, ruts, caverns in middle, etc. If you've ever slept on a mattress like this, you know exactly what I mean. Although too soft or too hard is a problem too, but you never know til you try it. I just can't handle a mattress that is not even.

That mkes a lot of sense. I didn't notice any odd lumps or dips on my last trip to Pop Century but I may have just gotten a newer mattress.

Tell them you medical needs such as a very firm mattress or not pillow top mattress. I have never heard of mattress complaints on this board except for sometimes the beds are too high.

They are the ones who can see to any special needs like mattresses for people with bad backs.

We were at Pop 4 weeks ago. We didn't have an issue. We did notice one bed was firmer than the other. But in all we had no big issue.

At home, I sleep on what is becoming what you consider a bad mattress. Pop's mattresses are fine.

In fact, the complaints may stem from people who ARE expecting the plush, pillow-top, eighteen-inch-thick mattresses or the adjustable mattresses or whatever they have at home that advertising convinced them they "needed" :teeth:.

I think you'll find Pop's mattresses just fine. In fact, even if they had been going bad, I think they were just replaced last summer as part of a routine update.
