Which would you choose? We are looking at a standard room for 4 people 2 adults + 16 yr old and 11 yr old. Does Art of Animation have its own bus like Pop? Does anyone know if the queen beds at Pop are actually bigger than the double beds at Animation?

A double bed is 54 inches wide. A queen bed is 60 inches wide.
We generally get 2 hotel rooms when traveling as a family of 5 to have 2 bathrooms, but sometimes our rooms aren’t adjoining and it’s a pain to shuffle back and forth with toothpaste or the girls want to use my face wash etc.
We’re trying out AoA this fall. Hoping it works out well.

Queen beds are bigger than doubles.

If this is boiling down to a Pop room versus the Little Mermaid rooms at AoA, you'll want to go with Pop. If you were looking to potentially book a family suite, which would give the kids each their own bed in the form of the sofa bed and murphy bed, then sure, spend the extra for AoA. But I'd suggest Pop unless you had been giving serious consideration to the family suites.

I would go with a family suite at AoA. As a PP said, if you’re thinking of a regular room at AoA instead, I would prefer a room at Pop. To answer your question, AoA has it’s own busses. We find them to be a bit faster then the Pop busses because they get on the main road quicker. Know that you can use the busses from Pop if you are staying at AoA and just miss your bus or if the line is shorter. It’s a 10-15 min walk from the Pop stop to the central buildings at AoA.

Art of Animation if you're looking for a comfortable room for 4 along with a better theme and opportunity of immersion. Pop Century is a good hotel, but like others posted above the AoA buses are a lot quicker, and I have found to be less congested as well.

I echo what others have said ... it depends on what room you're looking at booking at AoA. If just the Mermaid room, then I'd choose Pop. If you can splurge for a family suite, then I'd definitely do that - 2 bathrooms, your own room, with the kids having their own beds on the murphy and pull out sofa. No brainer if you can swing that one.

If you're booking a standard Little Mermaid room, I'd go with Pop. But if you're doing a family suite, I'd stay at AoA.

The new rooms at Pop are great, and there isn't a room there as far away from the buses and main building as the LM rooms. Even with the older kids, that's a long walk at the end of the night.

We like to stay at Pop, and then walk across the bridge and eat at the food court at Art.. :) We've also taken the Art of Animation buses back from the parks and walked across the bridge to our room.

My sister and I did this our last stay. Just grabbed whatever bus was first

I would vote for the family suites at AoA. We stayed in a Finding Nemo suite last year and loved it. We are also a family of four and there was plenty of room to spread out. The busses were great and we were in the building closest to the food court and bus stop. It was extremely convenient and it was nice having two bathrooms.

We thought of staying at POP in a preferred pool view room closer to the bridge so that we can walk over and eat at AOA, catch the Skyliner (once they open) if it's an EPCOT or HS day. One MK days and AK days we would eat at POP Food Court and catch the buses from POP.
Also, if you stay ground level near the lobby at POP you can really make use of those refillable mugs (if you buy them). we stayed at AOA Little Mermaid and barley used ours because it was so far from the Food Court.
You'll save $$ of the room but still have the benefit of less walking and closer access to AOA food court.
