POP Century or All Star Movies?

We stayed at POP Century before and loved it, was kind of thinking of switching our res over to All Star Movies for this trip. After staying at POP is there anything you think I'd find disappointing at Movies or are they pretty comparable?

Also, I am paying for a preferred pool view room at POP, since this isn't an option at Movies I'd be saving about $75.00 but still want a room right by the main pool and food court, buses etc....I'd like to be literally steps away if possible so what rooms would you suggest I request based on that?

If you look at a map of the 2 and compare you will see that they look almost identical. All 3 all - star resorts (Music, movies & sprts) would equal Pop in size. The food court menus are almost the same. The pools are also similar in size. So the only real difference now that they are all refurbed is style and decor. You could get a room close to the main building in movies to reduce the walking. Look at the map of it and request a certain building. For example , in Movies you could ask for Fantasia or Love bug to be down the main aisle.

We've stayed at both and they are similar properties, just different theme/decor! POP seems to be a little less spread out and the pool there is closer to the lobby, restaurant, buses, etc... The rooms are basically the same size at both places. If you choose All Star, request a room near the lobby. Good luck!!! You really can't go wrong with either resort!!

i would definetly stay at pop they just redid some of the room with flat screen tv's more channels and now a mini fridge but if u stay at all stars if your using the buses u have to share the buses at the end of the park day with the other all star resorts so it can get super crowded on them

All Stars do have preferrred rooms... we stayed in one at Movies this past October. Maybe they aren't the ones that have a pool view though. It cost $10 more a night, was close to the elevators and in the Toy Story buildings, just a short walk to the playground, pool and main building. My kids LOVED the Toy story theme-ing there. They stopped almost every morning to pose with giant Buzz and Woody (too tired on the way back ).

I'm wondering this too. For hopefully next years trip. We just came back from movies and WE LOVED IT there! I wanna try AOA but don't think we need the suite and the LM section is a bit far... we had dalmations in the bottom floor just next to Perdita so the walk was just the perfect length to the main building and pool! POP theme doesn't appeal to hubby... only because it says POP! POP! POP! POP! POP! everywhere in pictures... I love ASMovies but only want to try another place for new photos for next trips photo book. I'd have like a TON if we stayed at either because of the bridge between the two. Everything was just so perfect at Movies that maybe I should let that be how it ends... plus I LOVED pulling up to it our first night and being totally amazed by it. That feeling would only happen again somewhere new.

I've heard about that when it comes to All Stars, which is one of the reasons that Ill be staying at Pop.

Really, the shared bus thing is SO overstated, IMHO. I stay at the AS at least twice each year and it is just a non-issue. To me, it is not different than POR, CBR or CSR that have multiple stops. During busy times EACH RESORT WILL HAVE ITS OWN BUSES.

As PP said, you CAN get a preferred room. With what all you want, yes, you should pay for such.

Pop has a better food court, but also ~1,000 more rooms so more noise at chaos during peak times at said food court. I do not like having to go through the gift shop to get to the food court. Their flatbreads are quite tasty!

I like POP's foodcourt better and I like the layout of Pop's lobby better. However, I love the theme of Movies and the resort feels more compact to me than Pop.

I have stayed at Pop twice, All Star Music once, and All Star Movies once. For our upcoming trip we were going to stay at Movies for a 2nd time over Pop however the newness of AoA got the best of us and we are breaking the bank for a family suite.

I prefer POP over All Star's, I Stay in the 70's buildings, it's quiet, close to the pool, food and buses. I like the Food better at POP. But the decor is great at both.

Looks like I'd be able to save $180 if I went with Music over POP. UGH why does this have to be such a hard decision

I was going to book at ASMovies, however, since AoA, opened I booked at POP so we can cross the bridge and check out the resort and have lunch there. I didn't book at AoA because the LM section is not open yet. I don't need the suite at this moment.

I have stayed at both resorts. I like them both, however ASMovies holds a special place in my heart. It was our first Disney resort. Both resorts are pretty much the same. I love both food courts and the pools. Either way, you can't go wrong.. They are both great resort.

We have stayed at Sports, Movies and Pop. I liked them all. I thought the bus system at Pop was much better than the All Star resorts. I wouldn't hesitate staying at any of the value resorts again. My kids loved them all. We are big sports fans, especially football so they loved the football field at Sports.

Make sure you request a section closer to the main building! Otherwise you will be walking a lot.

I would do the same thing! We've stayed at both Movies and Pop (and staying at Pop again in August) but only because Pop had the availability we wanted for the dates we wanted. I LOVE the theming at Movies; love the food court at Pop.

Really, you're at Disney! And unless you plan to spend a day at the resort by the pool, you probably won't be there much anyway!

I love Pop! The thing I like the most about it is that when we stayed at All Star Movies, it was a pain picking up everyone from the other All Star hotels and later dropping them off.

Love, love, love ASMovies, but I would have chosen POP. The new AOA is right over the bridge, which means you can visit both food courts, and AOA has a different variety of food then the other values. Also, will be really neat to walk around and visit the different themed sections. Lion King area is going to have a large themed playground. Cool.

Alright all changed over to Music, no preferred rooms available so I did request to be as close to the food court as possible....cross your fingers for me!! Oh and since we couldn't get a preferred room total savings was $281!
