I thought I'd mention that I was making an ADR yesterday and the CM asked what resort I would be staying at. I told her Pop and her next question was whether I was staying in the Classic section or the Legendary Years. I thought that was sort of odd, and I said, "Oh, did they finish the Legendary Years?" But right then she said, "Oh, okay I've found your reservation..." and the conversation continued and ended without the question being answered. For a minute there I was sort of excited thinking Legendary Years might be open, but I guess not.
I noticed that on my invoice. When I first booked, it would just say "Pop Century", now my new invoice says "Pop Century Clssc Yrs". I called once and they also said that they see we are booked at the Pop Century Classic Years, and when I asked what the difference is and why are they now including the word "classic" in the reservation, they said that is the official name of the hotel.
I would love to see the other half of POP finished in some guise.
retheming / rebranding Pop Century Legendary Years so that it then can become a new family-friendly Resort, Disney's Animation Inn and Suites.
when construction actually begins?
Construction work is much cheaper to get done during a recession .. when nobody else wants to do it.. than after when the economy strikes up again.
I just bet that Disney will be watching to get the timing just about right.
Jim Hill is reporting (some folks don't put much faith in his facts) that Disney has recently signed contracts to start the conversion of the unfinished builidngs at Pop Century into family suites. Link: http://jimhillmedia.com/blogs/jim_hi...to-recede.aspx
I thought I hear something about filming a movie over there. Maybe I am remembering wrong
I hope that he is wrong about one thing....Pop possibly being re-branded into a moderate. I would really hate to see that happen, I am not a fan of the All Stars. With hourglass lake, I could see them changing the class rating if they re-make the theming.
