POP CENTURY ... LAST WEEK of SEPT. 07 MEET

as a teacher and Scout leader - we tell people of all ages,

"who's behaviour can you change?"

that's right, you cannot change my behavior or her behavior - you can only change YOUR own behavior... if what you are doing isnt working, than you need to change. In Scouts we have a "Safe Scouting" meaning, no put downs, etc, as is our school's philosphy - we have mantras posted "what do you want? what are you doing?" Does it match?

what do you want? to be married - or "hook up"?
what are you doing? creeping out people on a disney board, and as you possted on the solo board, same thing seems to be happening - so it does not match...

You've been given suggestions, but we cant change you. I've read many trip reports on those that go solo - they are comfortable, and confident going solo - you dont seem to be - its your birthday... maybe you need to do something different.. only you can decide.

Its my dd birthday also - I am not looking for anyone to make her birthday special. I have ordered cakes, slippers, balloons, and treats...

Reread what fox and pooch have posted - its not about you - its not about me... I have to make my happiness, not my dh - not my dd - until I am happy with me, I cant bring anything into our relationship - same thing for friendships...

good luck... its up to you!!

Well said...

I posted on the Solo board and was put down by people so what am i supposed to do i tried and in person yes i am very easy to talk to but think about it this way your bday and ur all alone how would you feel honestly thats my point and yes i listened to you ideas also remember some people on here were single but they just disappeared

If you don't want to be alone on your birthday why are you going on a solo vacation? I understand you wanting to do Disney for your birthday... and if you prefer to go solo that's fine... but don't put pressure/expectations of finding love in it or a date.... Just go... have fun... relax ...

The only reason people have gotten confused and/or angry with you is because no matter how many times we say to quit trying to find a date you keep going... and when we don't respond you get angry... you won't get a date response from married women... if the singles board isn't working don't get angry with us ... As I said before... relax... make some friends and stop worrying about having a "date" at disney...

So in just a few days we'll be meeting up... what's the word... last I read I thought I saw something about wearing as much glow as u can? Did I see that correct??? I think I am now overstocked on glow stuff... but that's ok ;)

Also if anyone who hasn't been to my pretrippie wants one of the last 2 "monkeys", that I had originally gotten when I thought I was going to the Mojito party (that's being held tonight), to be able to glow up let me know... I believe there are still 2 left... at last count :)

Till a while later ladies and gents.... at work so I'll be back :thumbsup2

I shipped 100 glow sticks down to disney Friday!!

no guarantees they work - I think they are all yellow - not sure if there is an expiration date on them...

they are the skinny ones - so they bend easily, breaking the color -

but they are FREE!!

I also threw in about 50 of the sticks!! I think they may be red!! DH found another bag of 50 red ones, I'll try and throw in my suitcase!!

On Glowing:
I have: 3 pair glow earrings, 2 glow mouths, and 25 glow necklaces + I bought a share of the glow bracelets? that Alicia (I think) is bringing.
My necklaces are a 6" glow stick on a black necklace.

I plan to hang them from my pockets, stick them in my Crocs, etc so that I'm Glowing from Head to Toe!! :cool1: You won't miss me!! :thumbsup2

I will probably have plenty of extras to share also though

Trust me, the single folks haven't disappeared. We just got creeped out.

That sort of "trolling for a date" behavior, is the reason, I've stopped going to many local hot spots. Last thing I'm looking for at WDW is a "hook up". That being said, I'm always on the lookout for new friends who share the same interests as me (single or not).

As a side note...did you sign up for the Celbration 25? There are over 1,000 folks coming to that. And, The Epcot Thing? That one has a couple hundred.

No matter what, I hope you find a way to have a fun and memorable birthday!

I have necklaces, barettes, earrings, bracelets and who knows what else I may have stashed away over the past couple of months. If it glowed, I picked it up LOL. I also ordered a couple of lime green t-shirts from jiffyshirts.com yesterday. I think I'm all set. This morning, I was on the computer making magnets for our door and a sign for the window.

Wow.... popcorn::
When I first started on this thread I was excited to meet some really nice people from all over. Different backgrounds, different races, different financial situations, different living arrangements ( married, single, having "partners", with and without children), different ages, but everyone sharing one common thing... the love of Disney.
Lately I have been reading the latest posts and I have to say that I am a bit concerned....:guilty: I don't really know anyone from this site as I haven't been a member for very long, but I was all into showing my love for this site. I went out and got the Mickey paint samples, I spent time putting my screen name on them and decorating them with glitter. I also went out and purchased glow stuff for the Glow Party. Not that any of this stuff cost much money or time, but I am begining to wonder if it was all a waste of time? :confused3
We are orginally from a rather large city, that becuse of danger as well as a significant language barrier, we never really reached out to others outside of our little "world". Now that we have moved to a smaller community (and a safer one) we have really tried to get out of our routine of keeping totally to ourselves. We have met tons of wonderful people and we are glad that we made the choice to be more "open":goodvibes However, that being said we are still rather "gun shy" and it took some convincing on my part to encourage DH to join me in the festivities of the 22nd. I thought it was all good clean Disney fun... just a bunch of people hanging out and finally meeting in person, having a good time, swapping Disney stories and enjoying some coctails as well as each other's company. Was I wrong? Now I am questioning if I really want to do this? Do I take a chance and "hopefully" end up having a wonderful time, or don't I? Or, worst case scenero, does this "Glow Party" go bad, with people arguing and bickering over the silliest things, and potentionally ruin our first night of Disney magic? Please, someone, let me know what's going on. I would hate to waste any more time on this if my family isn't going to participate.... :headache:

... this post was not ment to make anyone mad or blame anyone... It also wasn't ment to "fame the flames" or anything... I just want to make the best decision for me and my family..... :grouphug:

I see where you are coming from and totally understand where you are coming from. I think the party is going to be wonderful and lots of fun. I doubt there will be bickering and problems... For the most part everyone gets along really wonderfully.... come, join in... have fun :)

Princess April...since I may be the first one to see your post I'll try to respond: I really hope you don't let the last few posts deter you from meeting all of the extremely nice and friendly people who have been part of this thread. I can see how being new to the group and and seeing the last few posts could scare you away...but we are a very friendly bunch and we would love to meet you and your family :grouphug:

My dh is like yours, and he too is "gun shy" about meeting up with other people but I assured him everyone is super nice and it will be a great way to meet other Disney loving people!

Ultimately, only you can decide what you and your family are comfortable with but I really hope you reconsider. The issues with the previous poster is somewhat of an anomaly on this thread and most people here are just like yourself...wanting to expand our little circle of friends and have a great time at Disney!

Hope you can make it to the Glow party becasue I for one would love to meet you and your family! :goodvibes

Jenni :)

Where are you guys getting all this glow stuff? My Dollar Tree has very limited selection, even now for Halloween? I will have on a glow necklace that I found where you put flowers on it like a "lei", and whatever else I can find before then...any suggestions where to look?

Princess April, You needn't worry. We're just a fun loving, Disney obsessed bunch of folks here.

The 22nd is our first day at WDW too. We're having dinner at Chef Mickeys and then watching Wishes from the beach at the Polynesian. After that we'll hustle back to Pop for the Glow Party. I, for one am very excited about meeting you guys!!! My friend, Shirley, isn't soo sure...but she'll warm up once she meets you all :cool1:

Folks are just getting a bit "Grumpy" with Mike because just about every time he posts, he is asking about single and available gals. No matter how many times we answer, he just keeps asking the same question about "hooking up".

I'm sure, if he decides to go, he will be fine. He'll meet some like minded Disney fanatics and have a great time.

I got all my stuff at the Dollar Tree. When I was there on Wednesday, they had just gotten a new shipment in - flowered glow leis, hair clips, mouthpieces, necklaces, bracelets, sticks, rings.

If your's doesn't have them yet, ask the manager. They may have the shipment in back and just not processed it yet. That being said, If you still can't find anything, I for one would be more than happy to share. I think I have enough stuff for at least a dozen folks and it is just two of us

My understanding is that it'll start somewhere between 9 and 10.... when the parks are closing and people are back at the hotel

Princess April I apologize if I came across as bickering - we're on vacation, and I have the same feeling, I will not bicker - or stand up for a "right" I will not 'debate' - I just want to have a good time enjoying and swapping stories -

lovesmickeyshouse I think you may find some great lifeguards!!
