POP CENTURY ... LAST WEEK of SEPT. 07 MEET

Last update I saw was that they were still on track... you may call on the 30th or so while you are there to the dining line to ask so that you can be sure...

Tanya

Add me to the Glow juicers list... I can bring juice... (we have to anyways ... our kids love that kind... I can just bring extra... and I can help w/ cups if needed

Sounds good to me.. don't worry about the cups, I am going to pick up plenty on our way back from Vero Beach

Hi, everyone! :welcome: to the new folks who have joined us recently!

I counted like 90 people on the list!! :woohoo: We just need a few more to hit 100!! Actually there probably are 100 already since some of the names are screen names only w/out the rest of the party members listed.

I Can't Wait!! :dance3:

I was wondering... Is anyone planning to go to Pleasure Island between Sept 22 and 27th? DH & I are talking about going one night. We didn't go last time, but I think it would be fun. I used to LOVE  to go out dancing, but we don't do it much anymore. I'm not sure if I'll have enough energy after a full day in the parks though. Any thoughts?

Have a great weekend!!

After a quick check of my itinerary, I see that I have PI penciled in on the 26th. Spending that day at AK, having dinner at Jiko. I'm not much for dancing. But, if I'm not completely exhausted after dinner, I thought I would stop in at The Adventurer's Club for a bit before turning in.

We are planning to hit the Adventurers club again this year.. it is soooo much fun .. the kids are going to love the talking wall masks :woohoo:

GLOW ALERT! Went to Target, they have a $1 section and I have a "Glow in the Dark Set" earrings, bracelet, and necklace - packaged to fit nicely (flat) in our luggage!! All for $1

I've not done PI - 22 is one of 2 Spectro nights, I'm flexible, but we're thinking of doing Spectro, than heading back to Pop...

dd will be 11 so not sure :confused3 I'm hoping she'll meet up with other kids and make connections - she's shy, but once she gets started... she'll talk your head off!!

How many are renting cars? Have cars? Relying on buses at a value :confused3 We stay Deluxe, bus - no problem, we stayed POR/mod buses HUGE problem that year - from what I've been reading on the Dis it looks like buses and Values are fine... Dollar rent a car has a 6 day deal $19 a day $114 for the week - and pick up is at Grosevenor - a shuttle will pick you up at pop and take you there!! Tempting... but $100 can buy a few F&W goodies... KWIM???

My kids are older but they will coax your daughter out of her shell for some good old fashion water fights :rotfl:

We are renting a car this trip, for 3 reasons.. (1) DH and I are heading to Vero Beach first then picking the kids up at the airport on our way to POP. (2) We are doing the waterparks often and most of our TS ressies are at other resorts (Boma, Concourse,Kona etc..) (3) last year the lines for the POP buses seemed to be the longest. After the MNSSHP & EMH events, it took us at least an hour to get on a bus.:sad2:

As for renting the car, 10 days Thirfty rental $261.36 is what I have booked. But usually I grab something on Priceline or Hotwire for around $13 to $15 a day:banana: booking 2 weeks before we leave.

Re: Buses - If you have a schedule like Keliblu, a car might be handy. Especially if you have a lot of resort to resort travelling to do.

But honestly, we always drive down and we never use our vehicle once we get there. We prefer to let Disney drive and pay for the gas! ;)

We were there in August last time and the buses were great. There was only one time it was really crowded, at MK after Wishes, but they started loading buses two at a time and I think we were on the second bus after we got to the line. It really wasn't as bad as I had heard.

I think it helps to plan extra time into your schedule, so you are not rushed for ADRs or whatever, and to have a relaxed, laid-back attitude about it all.

We always figure we are all in it together, so we wait for the next bus if we think it's too crowded, smile at the people around us, whatever it takes to make the trip more enjoyable.

Anyway, that's our theory. :goodvibes

Personally, I think the buses at Pop are the best! I've stayed at many WDW resorts from value to deluxe. One of the reasons we keep coming back to Pop is the great experiences we've had with the buses.

Thanx for the tip about Target. I'll head over there tomorrow. Stopped at our Dollar Tree today and got necklaces and bracelets. I was looking online at a couple specialty items. Also got my Pal Mickey a pair of plaid shorts and ordered him a lime green t-shirt so he can join in on the fun :o)

Hi, guys!
I agree that it would be really cool if Everyone on the list showed just to see that many glowing people! But realistically, I can only talk to So many people at one time :thumbsup2 I think a group of no more than 50 would be ideal. I'm sure we'll have a blast either way!

Buses - I have not stayed on property anywhere but POP, but I thought the buses were GREAT! We had to wait sometimes at closing, but not too long. I think it beats having to drive and walk through parking lots, etc. We flew last time and didn't have a choice. This time we will have a car, but I plan for us to park it and not use it again until we are saying goodbye.

As far as PI goes, I think we will probably play it by ear, but I hope that we will have the energy to go one night. Adventure's Club does sound really neat. That is half the reason I want to go. DH thinks the comedy club sounds cool. I spoke to my parents about it today. They said that they went to PI last time and weren't impressed. I wasn't expecting them to want to go anyway. I think if we go we would end up ditching the MIL also. They are old ;) anyway.

Thanks for the Pop assesments of buses... I remember a LOOOooont time ago when we went to wdw rented a car, andit never left the parking lot...

Told dh we'll have to figure a way to contribute to this glow party... I guess I'll ship somethin to pop!! :rolleyes1

I think the main reason I love the Pop bus system is the fact that they have separate queues for each destination. That way, the folks monitoring the human traffic can instantly see when a second bus is needed.

I remember staying at Caribbean Beach. Every time a bus pulled up to each stop, everyone checked to see what the sign on the bus said. Problem was, with several stops within the resort, the bus would often be packed before it got all the way through and there was no way to know how many more folks at the stops were going to each destination.

Just my two cents.

Im so glad to hear all this good stuff abut the busses at POP, I have never stayed there so I was wondering how good they would be.
We will be driving down to Orlando but in the past the car has always just stayed in the parking lot unless we wated to run to a off site grocery store. However this year we have ADRS at POLY and CONTEMPRARY so Im thinking we will prolly have to drive to these right? What if were at the MK on one of those ADR days...doesnt the monorail run to one of those resorts:confused3 Can we take that?

Unless your ADRs are super early, you should be able to take Disney Transportation. If you have breakfast ADRs before 8:30 at O'Hanas or Chef Mickey's, it might make sense just to take your car to those resorts. Problem is then you need to drive back. I would probably just take the Pop Bus to the MK and then either walk to the Contemporary from the MK bus stop or hop on the Resort Monorail to the Polynesian.

Myself, I'll be using Disney Transportation with the exception of breakfast on the 23rd. I have a 7:30 a.m. ADR at Boma. So, I'll take a taxi that morning.

Last October, I decided to take a challenge. Could I visit every single Disney Park and Resort in a single day using only Disney Transportation? I was a long day but turned out to be a lot of fun. I met some great folks, really helpful CMs and am now quite well versed on the ins and outs of getting around DisneyWorld without a car.

I think you shouldnt worry - the busses run 2 hours after park closes, so depending on your habits and time of adr - you can get to MK then take the mmonorail resort to Poly and contemp. When we stayed at POR the busses were so awfully slow, and standing room only my parents drove us to those adr's -

I know you'll have a PC so to take a bus to MK you can walk from the bus drop off to Contemp - its just a few blocks away, and there is a light at the major intersection - it would be faster (and now that I think in my mind it probably is the same distance from the bus lines to the monorail as it would be from the bus line to the Contemp!) (Do keep in mind if you are the only passengers on the bus you can ask the driver if he could stop at Contemp for your adr - unless it is a Breakfast adr - for some reason the busses automatically stop at Contemp for Breakfast - no other time - last year anyway! (from BWV - we had an adr at Cali Grille, we were the only ones on the bus, and the driver said "no" - I told him I thought it "odd" that they stop in the am... and gee, no other passengers... he ignored me!!)

There is a resort boat from MK to Poly - its such a pleasant ride too...

Also - the rope lines at Pop - I forgot about those - at the Mods and Deluxes you have a bus "shelter" that herds the folks in - but no organization - which tended to make me too anxious as I watched people keep coming and coming, and of course when the bus stopped - a grand surge - I hated that! BUT, if I remember correctly - the lines are out in the sun, no shelter? Maybe we should bring a parasol!

We have done this before. Our last stay we stayed at All Star Movies and used Disney transportation. We had a ressie at Chef Mickey's. We took the bus to the MK and then took the resort monorail to the Contemporary. The CM told use to give about an hour for transit and it worked well.

We have made several resort ressies for this trip because the trans was so easy.:cool1:
