POP CENTURY ... LAST WEEK of SEPT. 07 MEET

yeah, that blows! Youd think they would start putting up christmas lights around the middle of November, instead thats when they'll be done with them:confused3 so they'll be up for a month in a half....oh yeah I guess thats prolly right cause they are doing they MNSSHP in mid Sept. so prolly be the same 4 Christmas.

I don't want to get anyone's hope up, but...

I was there in February for my b-day and they had a crane in position at that time painting the castle. However, the base of the crane was almost completely hidden from view and it was in the down position for most of the time I was there. It was up when I got there first thing in the morning but then they lowered it until early evening. Then, it went back up for a while and was down in time for Wishes.

So, with any luck, they will do the same this time and it won't impede our view or enjoyment of the castle.

Also, I would love to join you guys for Fantasmic on the 24th! Are you meeting up someplace special or wearing something identifiable?

And, for the Glow Party, is everyone coming decked out in glow stuff?

I'm sooo excited! You guys are awesome!!

We're just three short months away - I can hardly wait!!!

p.s. I almost forgot. Epcot opened 10/01/1972. So, 10/01/2007 is it's 25th birthday. Unfortunately, Disney has decided not to celebrate. But, some of the folks on ******************** are setting up a celebration themselves. They are having several meets throughout the day. There is a meet at Club Cool at 10:15 where Nathan Rose will attempt to drink 25 shots of Beverley (yuck!). Then at 1:00, Jeff Lange will be conducting a historical tour of Epcot. The biggest disappointment is that during that time Spaceship Earth will be down for rehab. It just doesn't seem right.

No worries about the crane - since its in back, you will not be able to see anything from the front (it does surprise me they are starting so early tho) Last year they had the crane it was panic - someone posted (SafetyMom) her pictures - they wrapped the whole front of the castle! Now when they took down the gold characters, they had the crane - its in back just for "storage" when the park closes is when they do the work!! You will be surprised at how Disney hides it so well!!

I'm always suprised at the filters here - The Dis is head and above the others for the amount of planners and posters here (the boards move so fast!) I heard that you can not type url's except for board sponsors - it makes sense in a way - but if you try and go around a filter... like by putting spaces... say wrote was filtered... w r o t e You can get points - and too many points can get you banned! :scared1: I really try hard to follow rules!

I'll try and get some great glow stuff - I have a huge box of glow sticks in the garage - the Scouts sell them at the 4th of July gathering, thiss bunch had some flaws - the company sent us a new box - but I found I cant get them to disney in my luggage w/o breaking the inside container and it then starts to fade... I saw they have earrings - I think dd has the ring Target sells that stuff at the $1 bin - hmmmm should be here in time for the 4th I thought!

Florida couple is in trouble with police after allegedly leaving a three-year-old child alone in a stroller in the 90-degree heat while they went on a ride at Walt Disney World.

Investigators said a concerned guest approached two employees working the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and told them a child had been left unattended outside the ride entrance on Saturday.

The employees said they found the child alone in a stroller sweating profusely.
They then called the paramedics.
"If a little more time had transpired there were concerns this could have gone south very quickly," says Sheriff's spokesman Jim Solomons.
Investigators said the child was showing early signs of heat exhaustion, and had been left alone for up to an hour.
The parents, Juan and Danette Rodriguez, said they were with a family group and accidentally left the girl behind.
Both were charged with felony child abuse and posted $2,500 bond.
The Department of Children and Families said the child has been placed in the care of relatives.
A Disney spokeswoman said she's glad that the employees at the ride acted appropriately and quickly and she also mentioned Disney's rider switch program that allows one parent to stay in an area with the child while the other rides.

heath/javen mom re - What Kelli says about free dining (but I think you may be able to add her to your room - and get the free dining) AND if its just one person - dont drop any adr's - just show up with the one extra person. Its not exactly policy but do keep in mind the park and the CM's in the park have a different attitude than the ones at the call center... It will all work out - magically :wizard: (Of course if my mom decided to come, it would drive my stress rate up way high!)

Kelli I read that - there is a post on the community board as well as the theme park board!! :sad2: I cant even imagine - so I'll just let others... so sad, just praying for the baby that was ignored... forgotten... and almost died.... I need my happy place.... ooohhhmmmmm.....

That's an awesome deal for your mom! I'm so happy for her that she's going to be able to join you.

Are we related? My FIL sounds like your mom--he's had both lung and kidney cancer, is diabetic, has congestive heart failure, only one kidney which is having trouble, and perpetually swollen feet due to the CHF. We generally go on at least one vacation a year with him and MIL (who has her own list of ailments), so I know what you're facing. We've never taken them to WDW, though, so bless you for doing this for her, and lots of :grouphug: 'cause you'll need them.

I second the vote for just showing up with her for your ADR's. As for the ECV, for a week long trip, you may want to rent from an outside company. I don't know what kind of break Disney gives you on a length of stay rental, but $35 a day adds up fast. Check with the DISabilities folks--I'd bet they could direct you to a company where you could get it cheaper, and they'd drop off and pick up for you. This is a huge business in cities like Las Vegas, so I'm sure Orlando is capitalizing on it too. My dad recently sent me an article about how it's becoming more and more popular with young people, like in their 20's, in Las Vegas. Skinny girls in 4 inch high heels, buff guys who are too drunk to stumble between casinos--it's a little pathetic if you ask me, but whatever.

Yep, go to the Dis ability board - there is a huge amount of info - If you rent an ecv from offsite - its cheaper - but then you have to plug it in at Pop, and take it on the busses...

let me Pm you some stuff!!
