and 6 years ago today that I lost my Mom. Just got back from the cemetery, says she's doing fine & to have a good time on vacation!!!

It was 6 years ago today that we enjoyed the last day of the world as we knew it stop and take a minute to remember the victims of that tragic day 9/11/01 god bless america .

Six years ago we were packing to leave for Disney. The 11th was a Tuesday and we were leaving that Friday. I was sooo excited, until I realized what was going on. It was such a slap in the face! I felt so quilty for thinking about Disney after that, even thought we should maybe cancel. We tried to bring some people that were stranded at our airport to Florida with us, but nothing panned out. I decided that once we crossed the Florida border I had to put it out of my mind until I got back. I didn't want terrorists to ruin my vacation along with what they had done.

Pooch, What a day that must have been for you. I'm sorry. Was your Mom's death related to the events at the twin towers?

I will never forget that day because I was born and raised in NYC. Me and my friend used to hang out at the WTC around lunch time because it was such a nice place to be. My mom worked a few blocks from WTC and actually heard the plane hit. My brother was late to work that morning and actually saw the second plane hit. My brother's friend, who was like a brother to me, had a 9 am interview that same day on the 90 something floor. His son didn't feel well in school, so he cancelled the interview and picked his son up from school. This is just how it affected me, so I feel for those families who lost a loved one.

No, she actually died 9/10. We were at the bank tending to some of her affairs on the morning of 9/11 about 9:30, couldn't figure out why the tellers weren't waiting on us! They were all huddled around the TV. It felt like the whole world was sharing in my grief that week.

So I take it you're driving down. How long of a drive do you have? I'm glad it'll only be about 6 hours for us.

Hearing your story brings tears to my eyes. As Keli said, she'll be there with you in spirit. Does she still communicate with you? Some people don't believe in that, but I know for a fact that they still communicate with you. My grand dad passed 7 years ago and every so often he visits me in my dreams. He likes to check in from time to time to see what's been going on.

yep driving .. Its only a 8-9 hour drive for us but we are spilting it up into 2 days so we can get to pop earlier on sunday ... It will also make it easlier on the kids ..

I told the kids teachers today about the trip, they said they wish they could go too... And that they would get the kids work together for us and send it home on friday. i'm going to have them do it on the drive there and back

I am, I am I was going to book 9/12-9/20 but now I might have to change it to 9/5-9/13 so my God Daughter can go before she goes back to college

Re: Insomnia - Last night was the first night in 2 weeks that I haven't had a bout of insomnia. Yay!
The stress of sick relatives and trip planning and a bunch of other things was getting to me.
Got to go to a "Mom's night out" with our homeschool group last night and ate a bunch of peanut butter and chocolate fudge. Apparently that did the trick! LOL


Did a bunch of running around yesterday -
Post card stamps...check
quarters for laundry...check
smaller bills for tip money...check

I would love to go back but right now I'm not so sure. Things are a bit tight financially so I'll have to see what happens from now til next weekend. The way it looks, I don't think we'll be able to go.

We won't be able to go next year....we are lucky we can go this year. We are putting in a HUGE pool. They started digging today, we start paying tomorrow. We need to pay down the pool a bit before we go again.
