As mentioned earlier today I'm taking over a Fridge Swap from Christa112.
Here are the rules of the swap:
The fridge is a dorm size with a small freezer compartment (please defrost freezer the night before you swap).
I will put the following in the fridge, please keep it with the fridge at all times. PLEASE post when you return and let me know how the supplies are holding up so that I can let the upcoming swappers know.
Note cards/paper
Permanent marker
Clear packing tape
Disinfectant wipes
Please make arrangements with the swapper before and/or after you, it is YOUR responsibility to return the fridge to the POP Luggage Services.
NEVER leave the fridge in your room at the end of your stay as Mousekeeping will take it and assume it was left behind, even if it is labeled with the next swappers name.
*** Always clearly/securely label the box with the next swappers information even if swapping in person. The info should include first/last name of reservation, check-in date, Resort name and cell phone number if available. PLEASE DEFROST AND DRY OUT THE FREEZER/FRIDGE the day before if you are putting it in storage. No one wants to get a moldy/stinky fridge!
*** NEVER tip the fridge over or lay it down as it will RUIN the compressor.
*** The success of this swap depends on each and every one of us. Please do not join this swap if you are not serious as other swappers are relying on you.
*** I can't be responsible for the fridge - either lost/stolen or damaged.
We can only hope for honest reliable swappers - But I can't guarantee that this will always happen.
Communication is KEY to a successful swap.
WHY A FRIDGE SWAP?
Currently, Disney charges $10 a night to "rent" their fridge. A fridge swap is a way to save money. Depending on how many people are in the swap the cost of the fridge is split between participants so they end up paying a lot less than if they were to rent a fridge from Pop for their entire stay. There is no cost to our fridge swap. It was paid for a long time ago by previous swappers. It will be free for as long as the swap keeps going.
HOW DO I JOIN THE SWAP?
First-see if your dates are available (look above). Then PM me (ge0rgette2) if you're interested. We'd be happy to add you if your dates are available in our swap. Then you can "confirm" you are in by giving me your full name (name on reservation), Confirmation # (helps locate you, should the fridge get lost in luggage services), phone # (preferably your cell # you'll use while at WDW-should we need to contact you to arrange a swap), and your e-mail address.
HOW DO I PAY? HOW MUCH?
The swap is free. If the fridge gets low on supplies such as antibacterial wipes or packing tape we may ask you to donate those to keep the fridge and box in good condition.
WHAT ARE MY RESPONSABILITIES AS A SWAPPER?
You are responsible for arranging times, with the swapper before you and the swapper after you, to complete the "swap". Things will run a lot smoother if we do the swap in person from DISer to DISer. The less it goes behind the desk at Pop the better. IF you must leave it at luggage services at Pop you must place a note on the fridge box that contains the full name of the next swapper, check in date, and confirmation #. That way there is less chance of it getting lost by staff.
HOW DO I CLEAN THE FRIDGE?
Please completely de-frost the fridge and wipe it dry if you will be bringing it to luggage services or placing it in the box. Also, please wipe down the inside and outside with disenfectant wipes. If you are able to do an in person swap with the next swapper you don't need to defrost it, but please clean it out as much as possible. IMPORTANT: The bottom part of the fridge has a tray to collect all condensation/water. Make sure the fridge is completely dry and the tray is dry before putting it in the box. Otherwise the box will get soggy and will not last long. The life of the swap depends on keeping that box in good shape!!
This is a reminder for all up coming swaps:
