We are going to WDW in JANuary- new DVC members, but looking for a weekend stay at a regular resort to save some points. We usually stay at deluxe resorts, but are thinking about staying at POP century. Does anyone know anything, other then the supposed opening date, of this hotel?? What rooms are closest to the eating areas etc.?? Will it really open this time??? Having stayed only in deluxe accomadations- will value be ok? I'm not overly picky, but I do like nice when I'm on vacation. Has anyone seen this hotel in person yet?? What are your thoughts? Thanks for you're help! ANY info on POP Century would be appreciated!

Hey!!!
I was just checking out some websites for off site properties. I am not a picky person, but I do like at LEAST a 3 star type hotel for a vacation and I don't like "budget " hotels even for just a place to sleep while traveling on the road. If I can find one, I like to stay at least in a Best Western. Nothing with the name "budget" or motel 6,Super 8, Econolodge. NO NO NO!!!!
That being said, I do just fine at the All Stars and I think Pop Century will probably be a bit nicer. I wish I could remember where, but I did see room pictures awhile back and the furniture seemed more "normal". I just don't like the All Star furniture at all. Other than that, the value resorts are very upbeat, have GREAT food courts, fun pools, pool bars, large gift shops and arcades and are VERY DISNEY! I don't think for a few nights you will suffer. I DEFINITELY don't like cheap hotels, but the Disney values are just fine!

why dont you bid at priceline for a weekend stay at a resort level hotel. have you been to the site www.biddingfortravel.com? it gives you all the info and what a deal!!!!! (some people pay as low as $55 a night!)

Shoot, do like we do. Use the points for the weekend and you won't have to move. Especially if you are moving out after staying in the DVC resort. You will be purchasing more points.

If you can stay at the non-DVC resort first, then complete your vacation at the DVC resort, you will be much happier. It's hard to move down after having all the space and amenities of the DVC resort.

If you are a "deluxe person", you probably won't be happy at Pop Century. PC is a value resort just like the All Stars. Would you be happy staying at one of the All Star resorts? If your answer is no, then skip PC.
