POP and MNSSHP Oct 08 + BONUS Weekend at WL in Dec -*2/20 Update - The End!*

Man...I pray someone does the right thing and turns it in. Good luck! :wizard:

Thanks Tammy. It was really my own dumb fault - I lost it on Thunder Mountain. I was holding it between my knees so I could raise my hands on the ride. I should have had it in my bag or at least in my hand. All of a sudden it was gone - I checked the floor and nothing. Must have fell and then bounced out though I can't believe I didn't notice it. The CM at Thunder Mountain told me they do a walk through each night looking for lost items - so we'll see but I doubt I'll see it again.

Glad you made it home. Sorry to hear about your Camera. Can't wait to read your trip report. Makes me look forward to our trip to the world on 11/7/08.

Awww...I'm sorry.

I will keep my fingers crossed that the camera shows up.

Good thing you didn't buy a new one before the trip, huh?

Welcome home. I am so sorry about your camera...I hope it shows up!

Hi and Welcome! Your trip will be here soon! Yay! :cool1: Hopefully I can get some pictures from my mom this week and get this thing started.

LOL - good point! Another way to look at the positive side, right?

Welcome home. I am so sorry about your camera...I hope it shows up!

Thanks - so do I though I'm losing hope. Every time my phone rings I hope it is Disney - but no. :sad2:

 I'm sorry about your camera too! My fingers are crossed... well, they will be just as soon as I'm done typin'!

I'll read with or w/o pictures! :goodvibes

No Michelle! I am really sorry about the camera problem. I am hoping that some nice person found it and knew what it would mean to get it to the owner. Where were you when you lost it?

Well that is better than leaving it behind and not knowing where you had it last. This way a CM will be the one to find it (more than likely). I hope it turns up. I don't think a CM would chance losing their job to keep a camera. The only bad thing...if it broke when it fell out. Then they may just throw it out. I hope you get it back. :lovestruc

Thanks Jen! I was riding Thunder Moutain and not holding on to it very well and it must have bounced out. :sad2:

Awww Michelle - that STINKS about the camera! Sending some :pixiedust: to help find it!

Thanks Cammie! No word yet.

Thanks Nicole! It will be a much quicker TR without pictures! :)

Thanks Tammy. I still have a little hope that it will show up.

Small Update Here:

Still no word on the camera. I've called twice and they have nothing but said they would call if it turns up. Someone else told me if they find it they may just send it and it will show up on my doorstep someday. :confused3

I am going to get a copy of my mom's pictures on Sunday so I will start my TR on Sunday or Monday and use what I can from her pictures.

On a happy note - Sam and I spent a lot of time last night organizing our pins in to a book we bought on this trip. We've never really been into pins too much, but on this trip for some reason I really got excited about them and bought LOTS! In the past, we would buy one or two each trip and Sam kept them on a lanyard in her room. She isn't interested in trading as she doens't ever want to get rid of any. So, I found a book (sorta like a photo album for pins) and we organized it yesterday with our old pins and all our new purchases. We are working on getting one from every resort we've stayed at. We are also working on collecting the ride pins. Sam has been getting one each time she tries a new ride and now we got a few of some of our favorite rides too. Samantha has a page of princess pins she has been collecting and we also have a page of "special" pins like from MNSSHP and the Food & Wine Festival. Such an addicting (and expensive) hobby! But fun! :)

Still hoping your camera turns up :sad2: . I can't let Kaylee read this post about the pins. She thinks she needs one from every ride and resort. That would make me broke :lmao: . I try to get her only 2 or 3 each trip. She also likes wearing them but doesn't like trading so much. I have to get one of those books since she has alot of pins now. i would say take a picture to show us but I guess you can't right now :sad1: . Did she get one from MNSSHP? Kaylee got one, it has a green monster on it.

We got two pins from MNSSHP - I thought they were the only two at the time. But, since doing some research I've seen pictures of others that I like much better - one with the hitchhiker ghosts I like alot!

I actually just found my OLD camera - so if I can find the cord I will take some pictures of our pin book and pins - will probably be tomorrow though. :)

Michelle - I just found your new TR tonite and I am so, so, so sorry about your camera!!!!

Believe me - I know exactly how you feel. On my 1st ever trip to WDW with DD4 and DS2 I left our camera in the rental car at the airport. Long story short - it was never recovered!

Then, on my 2nd trip to WDW with just DD4, a trip taken solely to recapture the photos I had lost on Trip #1 I do the unthinkable and leave the camera at the airport check-in counter. (I think you actually might have been following my TR which reported on it!)

Anyway, I ended up finally, after almost a week after we returned home having the camera returned to me with all the photos still there. Hopefully that happens to you!

If the camera flew off into some bushes or brush around the track, who knows. It may take awhile before anyone finds it.

Sending lots of hugs and pixie dust to you. :wizard:

You know when you've read through something but you didnt actually post to it. Thats what happened with me. I started reading your TR tonight and realized that I had read it up to a certain point. :lmao: Well, I'm subscribing now!

Sorry about your camera. Hopefully it will turn up. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I just talked to my friend, whose husband lost his cell phone on the Indiana Jones ride at DL a couple weeks ago. It flew out of his hand on the ride.

They called DL lost and found a bunch of times for the 2 weeks following their trip. Each time they called, they were told there was no phone. Well, the other day, it just showed up in the mail!

So don't lose hope! It may just appear one of these days!

Hi! I remember your TR and your story about the lost camera on your first trip - I thought of you when I realized mine was gone. I was thankful that wasn't my first or only trip to WDW. I can only imagine how you felt! Thanks for the hugs and pixie dust too!

Hi Shawna! I've seen you all over the boards lately too - I need to check out your report - seems to be pretty popular! Thanks for reading - I should be able to start the real TR tomorrow night or Monday once I get my mom's pictures. :goodvibes

Wow - that is amazing that it showed up 2 weeks later! I've heard that scenario a few times now - I keep checking my doorstep but no luck yet! It will probably show up once I get my report done!

If it doesn't show up you will just have to take double the amount of pics in 10 days! ;) Will you have a new camera by then?

Sadly, I am not going back in 10 days - I just forgot to take my ticker down. :sad2: But, I'm going forward with an update in a moment..... :goodvibes

Disclaimer *** In case you are just tuning in, I lost my camera on our last day of vacation so my TR will have very limited pictures. :sad2: I do have copies of my mom's pictures but she didn't take very many. ***

The day had finally arrived – we were leaving for Disney! But not until Sam got out of school. That made for a very long day for me! :bored: I had no motivation to work so I finished our packing and mostly hung out here on the DIS. :surfweb:

My mom was scheduled to leave work at 2:30 and then she was going to pick up Sam from school and come to our house and we would leave from there. My mom and Sam got to my house right around 3:00 and Sam walked in the door with a giant smile of her face – she was so excited. She wanted to change in to a Disney shirt which she did quicker than I’d ever see her move before. After one more good-bye to my animals we were pulling out of the driveway at 3:10.

<Imagine a picture here of Sam and I sitting in the back of the truck with all the luggage – we were both smiling from ear to ear!>

We got on the Florida Turnpike at 3:30 (of course we hit every red light on the way there). It usually takes about 2 ½ hours from the time we get on the turnpike until we drive through the Disney arch. A lot of times we hit rush hour traffic in Orlando when we leave this time of day but today we made great time – we actually pulled in to POP at 6:00! Woo Hoo! :woohoo:

Of course we had to do our traditional goofy thing as we drove under the Disney arches. As soon as the arch is visible, Sam and I start chanting “Not in Disney, not in Disney, not in Disney……” and then as soon as we are through we scream “WE’RE IN DISNEY”!!! I just love that feeling of actually being “there” – all my cares seem to go away and I truly feel like I am in another “world”. :cloud9:

As soon as we entered the check-in area at POP we saw some cast members doing The Hustle! I just love seeing this – puts a smile on my face every time! :dancer:

We checked in with no problem – were assigned to 50’s Building 2 – room 3163 – on the first floor. We moved our car to the furthest 50’s parking lot which was right near the unfinished “legendary years” buildings. It made me sad to see them sitting there like that.:sad1: I really hope that Disney decides to finish them someday.

The walk from the parking lot to our room was long! We walked along the lake which was really pretty though. I had planned to use my car during this trip on some days but this was a really far walk! I would have been better off keeping my car parked in the front of POP. We had a great location – 3 rooms down from the side of the building closest to Classic Hall. We were really close to both the bowling pin pool and the Hippy Dippy pool.

When we entered the room it smelled a little bit – kind of like dirty feet.:scared: We kicked the A/C down a few notches in hopes the smell would go away. Samantha and I unpacked everything as we always do. I just can’t stand to live out of my suitcase! My mom thinks it’s silly that we unpack and just keeps everything of hers together in her suitcase. We also decorated our window with the Halloween themed clings I had bought – Sam thought this was pretty cool and it was a great way to find our room easily.

We were now ready to head over to the Pop food court for dinner. We tried to adjust our A/C back up a bit and realized that if we put it above 71 degrees, hot air came out. We thought about calling the front desk but really didn’t want to have to switch rooms if there was a problem so we figured we would just deal with it – sometimes it was a bit cold in the room but it was better than being hot!

We love Pop food court! This was our first time using the dining plan so it took us a bit longer to figure everything out. Sam had a hard time at first understanding that she couldn’t just pick whatever she wanted – in the past she would get some kind of meal, a big bottle of chocolate milk and some fruit. Of course she could have gotten this with snack credits but I wanted to be sure she was still hungry after her meal first.

Samantha didn’t like the pizza at POP last time we were here and the only other thing that sounded good to her was a hot dog. But, there is no childrens meal with a hotdog. So, Sam got the adult hotdog meal and I got a kids Penne Pasta with Meatball. My mom got an individual cheese pizza. For dessert we got a cookie with the kid’s meal, a piece of chocolate cake and a slice of tie-dye cheesecake. It was a lot of food but we figured we could all share the desserts and try a bit of everything.

The food was really good. Sam tried the pizza and ended up really liking it this time. But, the kid’s pizza was so small that she would end up with the adult meal again next time we ate in the food court. The kid’s pasta was really good too – just a small portion which turned out to be fine with all the food we had! The tie-dye cheesecake was very good – but very rich and it turned your whole mouth different colors! I couldn’t have eaten a whole slice but a few bites were nice (I’m not normally a big cheesecake fan – unless it is Cheesecake Factory). I didn’t like the chocolate cake at all (and I love chocolate) – it was just way too rich. That of course was Sam’s favorite dessert! I actually really liked the child’s cookie best! My mom really wanted ice-cream but we weren’t sure how that worked on the dining plan. She asked about it afterwards and they said you can just tell the cashier you are getting ice-cream and they will put it on your receipt. Then you just bring your receipt to the ice-cream counter when you are done eating and they will make it for you. Good to know!

After dinner, we went to Everything Pop (store) for a bit – I always really loved this store – so bright and fun. I had my Disney Visa Rewards card burning a hole in my pocket. I bought a shirt and a few other little things.

These are the only two pictures my mom had of our first night – not the greatest but at least it’s something!

Sam thought these plates were so cool!

Our tradition on the first night is to just get settled, shop and swim. It is usually too cold for me without the sun out but Sam enjoys the night swimming. So, back to the room to change in to her bathing suit we went. Before swimming though – Sam wanted to get her hair wrapped. There was no wait there which was very nice. She chose some colors that would match her Halloween costume and some pretty beads to match. While Sam was getting her hair wrapped, we met a nice mother and daughter from Pennsylvania. The little girl was 7 and very talkative – it was cute. She was telling us all about their week so far and how much fun they’d been having. This made us even more excited to start our park time the next day!

After the hair wrap Sam went in the pool. I felt the water and it was a bit cold. I think the pool is heated but it sure didn’t feel like it. Sam didn’t last too long in the pool – she said she was bored but I think it was too cold for her too!

So, back to the room we go – much earlier than planned which was actually nice. It was nice to be able to get our jimmies on and just relax for a bit. My mom and I watched the third presidential debate and Sam read her book.

It was VERY noisy that night in our room. I had heard lots of complaints about the noises at POP but had never experienced them before – maybe it’s because this is the only time we’ve been on the first floor? Lots of super loud toilet flushes (I think) and people running around outside. This was really the only night that the noise was really bad so it really wasn’t an issue. Between the noise and my excitement for the next day I didn’t sleep very well (and my mom’s snoring – I never noticed that before).

Up next – would we finally make a rope drop?
