Poor Unfortunate Souls ~ A Spooktacular Trip Back to the World! UPDATE Reality Check

Wow what a busy morning! You've been all over the park! Gotta love those low crowds. Can't wait to hear about lunch.

What an awesome day one that the two of you had! :goodvibes

I have never ridden the trolly down Main Street and hope to get to do that some day!

It looks like you were able to get a lot done pretty quickly. I remember us texting when you got your funnel cake...I was so jealous!!! :lmao:

I've not been on SM. For some reason, I just don't care for coasters in the dark. :confused3 Sounds like I am not missing much?

So, did you have a hard time getting Dave out of Philharmagic? I know he really loves that attraction. :wizard:

I can't wait to read more.....popcorn::

You should defo hop on the trolley when you see it, lots of fun :)

SM no your not missing much, really disliked it when we went on it :sad2:

Dave was v good with Philhar and we only went on it the once that day.

Hey Stefy, just wanted to stop in and say hi. Thanks for putting the link to here on your pre trip or I probably wouldn't have found it for another month or so. Been following along via my phone while at work and it's getting me all kinds of hype to go back......NEXT WEEK!:cool1:

Keep the updates coming!

L8r,
-Rob

Hey thanks for stopping by, funny enough I was going to PM you to let you know I had started yesterday :teeth:

Yay for going next week, bet you are really excited. Where are you staying and how long you going for?

Wow what a busy morning! You've been all over the park! Gotta love those low crowds. Can't wait to hear about lunch.

Thinking back now, we really did go all over, we went from one end to the other alot! But it was cool, meant we were getting some exercise walking lots :)

Morning All

How are we all doing today? Not long now til the weekend. What have we all got planned?

I thought I would get a quick lunch update in whilst I had time this morning.

So we left off pondering where we might be headed for lunch. Most of you already know the answer so I won't go all suspenseful on you

We headed on over to Liberty Tree Tavern.

WDWTrip2010183.jpg

Funny story, when we were waltzing all around the park I thought our ADR was for 1pm and we actually turned up at that time to check in. Was so embarassed when the CM said it was 2pm, doh! :headache: Didn't help that my calendar with all our ADR's in had gone kaplooey as it hadn't adjusted to the new time zone even though I have changed my clock. Anywho funny story over, back to the food porn.

We were handed our buzzer and went to sit down. I thought I would take a couple of pics of the place as the last time we were here it was dark and the lighting wasn't that bright.

WDWTrip2010184.jpg

WDWTrip2010186.jpg

Not many I know, but our name had just been called so...

Our server was really lovely and friendly and went through the whole menu with us. Don't know how they do it, remembering all that food :worship:

First up are our appetisers. Dave went for the Tavern Fried Cheese

WDWTrip2010188.jpg

Whilst I went for the Declaration Salad.

WDWTrip2010187.jpg

The cheese was nice, I think I preferred the smaller ones to the breaded sticks. Dave was the other way round

The salad was lovely and fresh, but too huge for me to finish.

Another pic for you :teeth:

WDWTrip2010189.jpg

Next up, main course. I went for the Pilgrim's Feast.

WDWTrip2010191.jpg

Dave went for the Angus Chuck Cheeseburger.

WDWTrip2010192.jpg

Man that Pilgrim's Feast was delicious!!! The mash was soft and creamy and the turkey was lovely and moist. There was so much meat there too I couldn't finish it all and we were beginning to wonder what we had gotten ourselves into with the deluxe plan

Dave's burger looked really good and he said that he enjoyed it. I think at the time he had a hankering for a burger and this hit the spot :)

I love the way they announce birthdays here, all clapping, singing and shouting. Doesn't he looked pleased with himself :)

WDWTrip2010193.jpg

We both had the same for dessert. The Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake.

WDWTrip2010195.jpg

It was quite good, although I wasn't too keen on the cake as it was more pie/tart like than sponge. Not to mention we were so full from our mains that we could only just about finish the ice cream

All in all a great first meal at the world, would defo go back just for the Pilgrim's Feast :teeth:

Next Up: What did we do next?

I've never been to Liberty Tree before... but the food looks fabulous, especially your Pilgrim's Feast! :thumbsup2 Looking forward to more! :cutie:

Mmmmm, out of all that food porn, I'm liking the Tavern Fried Cheese. I'm a sucker for fried cheese!

I love seeing people wearing the ears! so cheerful!

that fried cheese looks so delicious!:lovestruc

Dave looks super happy! what a lovely day!

YUM!! That tavern fried cheese is delicious!! I would go back just for that! Although you made the pilgrim's feast sound really good too!

Nice first meal. Mark had the Pilgrim's Feast when we went in 2007 and he really, really enjoyed it. I vaguely remember having a turkey panini but not sure it is on the menu anymore.

I love how "happy" Dave looks with the birthday singing.

And I'm with you, Stef, I liked the smaller fried cheese than the bigger ones.

Can't wait for more.

I never really have cheese other than Cheddar in a sandwich for lunch during the week, but this trip I kinda went all out with the cheeses which you will see :)

The cheese was very soft inside which mixed with the batter was very tasty, the burger was your standard fair but since I was hankering for a flame grilled burger it was very good. I remember desert being nice as well, soft and crunchy with plenty of chocolate sauce. Can't really go wrong with that one :thumbsup2

How yummy everything looks! I've only eaten at LTT when they have their all you can eat meal. The lunch there looks so good! One of these times I am trying it!

Yay for going next week, bet you are really excited. Where are you staying and how long you going for?

DW is taking the boys to the Caribbean Beach on Thurs and I'll meet up with them on Friday. Saturday morning we head over to the Beach Club Villas for a Saturday to Saturday stay.

As for being excited, whenever i look at a calendar or see "November" in the date somewhere I get this goofy grin that I can't get rid of for 15 minutes or so. Looking forward to some more updates....they are so bumping up the excitement level for me!!!

It was reaaallly good :teeth:

You should try LTT the food is really good and the decor is really cute too :)

Lol, the sauce was good as well, but a bit too salty for my liking.

I love seeing people wearing the ears! so cheerful!

Seeing people wearing the ears is always cute, it means that your getting into the Disney spirit of things :goodvibes

Thought you'd like the fried cheese :teeth: But the Pilgrim's Feast came in number 1 this time :teeth:

I don't think we saw a turkey panini on the menu, but there was a sandwich of some sorts, a club one I think :)

Lunch is characterless but still fun all the same and the food choices are really good :thumbsup2

Wow sounds like you're gonna have a great time. You must link me to your TR when you get back :goodvibes

Update coming right up :)

Am going to finish off Day 1 for you guys as I got some exciting news to share :teeth:

Lunch taken care of, we waddled ourselves outside we decided to make our way back to the resort to have a mini siesta before dinner. This was the first and only time we took the boat on this trip. Its not that we didn't like the ride, we much preferred the convenience of the monorail instead :teeth:

WDWTrip2010202.jpg

WDWTrip2010204.jpg

The boat ride was rather pleasant, we stopped off at GF first and got a glimpse of what it looked like, not a bad looking resort if I do say so :)

I think when we got back to the room we had a little nap, might have gone onto the net to check some things out, before getting ready to head to Cali Grill for our Hallowishes Dinner.

We checked ourselves in and headed out onto the platform. Typically the buzzer went off just before Hallowishes was about to start. So I ran inside and explained to our server. Funnily enough she said that we were welcome to watch outside or from our table as it was next to the window. I contemplated running back to get Dave when she offered to show me the table so I knew where to go in case we decided to watch outside. I opted for outside in the end as whilst the view from our table was good, it wasn't actually right next to the window.

So off I ran back to Dave just in time to catch the beginning of the show. We attempted to take some pictures, but in the end I was like forget it and lets just enjoy and I'm glad we did because Hallowishes is AWESOME!!! I think by far they are our favourite firework displays bar none :teeth: Can't wait to go back next year and watch them again and sing along too "Poor unfortunate souls"

Here are a couple of pics, but they aren't that good.

WDWTrip2010208.jpg

WDWTrip2010210.jpg

After the fireworks were done we made our way back inside. Dave was just about ready to fall over at this point and I was worried he wouldn't enjoy dinner as much. But he was a trooper bless and kept himself awake.

Our server was really good and helpful when it came to picking out a red wine as I am not keen on either and she suggested a really nice sweet red that went perfectly with dinner.

Its a pinot noir, Valckenberg Dornfelder, Rheinhessen. Was delicious and sweet, not too dry or strong for me.

WDWTrip2010213.jpg

Appetisers up next. Dave went for the BBQ Chicken Flatbread.

WDWTrip2010214.jpg

I went for the California Roll.

WDWTrip2010212.jpg

The sushi was amazing, fresh and meaty, not too chewy or flaky, it was just right :teeth: Although I had to take some back as I didn't want to fill up on too much rice as I was very looking forward to my main.

I think Dave enjoyed his flatbread, but he was too tired to really enjoy it. I think overall he didn't get the full dining experience at CG because he was knackered (bless him).

Next up are our mains. We both went for the same, Oak Fired Filet of Beef.

WDWTrip2010216.jpg

This was delicious, the sauce was a bit sweet for my liking, but the mash helped to soak it up. The meat was very tender and melted in the mouth.

We were so full after that, that we decided to skip dessert. Sacrilege I know, but sleepiness had caught up with me too by then (bearing in mind also our ADR was for 9:30pm and I think it was about 10:30pm at this point). Our server bless her, said we couldn't go away without dessert and came out with this for Dave.

WDWTrip2010217.jpg

WDWTrip2010218.jpg

We took it to go in the end as we just couldn't face another bite.

All in all CG was a great meal and I would seriously consider going back again, but maybe not so early on in the trip and so late. I like the idea that you can come back for the fireworks later on if you show your receipt, so maybe we might do that next time instead.

We caught the monorail back to the resort and stopped by Trader Jacks for a quick browse at the pins, I also tried this on and told myself I would get one for the party. I never did in the end though :(

WDWTrip2010219.jpg

So that concludes Day 1, a fantastic first day. We got nearly everything done that we wanted to in MK, had two great meals and went to bed with huge grins on our faces ready for Day 2.

Amazing first day! I'm hoping to try California Grill on honeymoon :cloud9:

Not been to LTT since 1996 (!) when it was a character-meal.. I remember havng a Thanksgiving style dinner & it was delicious! must try it again one day :thumbsup2

What is your exciting news.... !? :yay:

x

Fabulous 1st day! Sorry you were so tired at Cali Grill. I've eaten there once and loved it! You'll have to schedule it for your Disneymoon.

I Was literally falling asleep during that meal. Rubbing my face and eyes constantly and just not being as active as I'd have liked. Still the flatbread was ok, nothing special but I do remember the steak being very tender and juicy. We will definitely be eating here again next year. The view of Hallowishes was the BEST!, could see everything up there :)

I'll let her post the 'news' tomorrow morning since it's her idea.

Bravo! :worship: Can't wait for day two already :)

I'll try and get some of it up tonight :)

LLT is still family style with characters for dinner, its just lunchtime that's not character. We tried dinner on our first trip and loved it, the food was good too. It was the first time I had experienced Disney mash (soft and creamy) and was obsessed for the rest of that trip with mash

Exciting news coming up :teeth:

We defo will go for CG as we have decided to upgrade to the DxDP again :teeth:

I don't feel so bad this time consuming lots of food as this trip I didn't put on any weight at all (which was a plus), think it was all the walking we did, burned everything right off. Now if only it could tone too :rolleyes1

So not fair!

I'm assuming that's to the exciting news? Don't worry its coming right up :teeth:
