Well, not ROBBED exactly, but definately a problem has occurred.
Let me back up...DH is an officer of the court. Which means he is a badged, sworn officer only he works with juveniles and not the adult population. Still criminals, but just under 18. He deals with truancy, runaway, theft
, domestics and even murder occasionally, but tonight (after being called in at 2am on a runaway and then working his regular 9-5) he had stopped to get some milk I had asked him to get after work and he just called (from the grocery store phone) to alert me that right out of his cart someone stole his wallet-with badge- his work phone (and he is on call, hence the 2am call from central dispatch) and all his credit cards and such.
He is livid. I have been on the phone for 2 hours cancelling everything and having no way to contact him since his phone is awol. I have no way to know just exactly WHAT he carries besides the Disney Visa and our checkcard. He tends to carry cc's we don't use anymore so I have been searching through our fireproof lockbox trying to guess and then call.
I know he is exhausted and that is prob how someone was able to catch him off guard when he turned his back. He has only gotten a few hours of sleep here and there all weekend and most of last week due to being the department supervisor and carrying most of the workload. Everyone just calls him for everything and it is getting to be too much.
Thanks for letting me vent on DH's behalf. I thought he would be able to get to bed early and now it's 10pm and he's still not home- have no idea if he went to file report or is searching the countryside
can't call him!
I will not say this to him when he gets home as I am sure he does not need to hear it from me at this point- pay attention, be vigilant and keep an eye on your stuff! When he walks in the door I plan to just smile and pat his hand.

He's been pretty lucky - but not completely - for someone who often leaves his car unlocked, his wallet sitting on the gym sofa, etc, etc. Amazes me how he is so slack in that area and I am such a nit picker in that area!
to you and your DH - poor guy....what a night/week/etc. Bleh.
book reading, homebody. Except for one close friend occasionally.
