Hello:
I am hearing terrible reviews of food at DHS (CS), so I'm trying to avoid it. One of our touring days, we'll be at our resort (WL) prior to heading to DHS for the evening and Fantasmic.
It appears that Roaring Forks is a bit limited in its menu. So, we might hit a CS on the way into the park. We may do this, as well, on other days when we are picking up a lunch/dinner en route.

My question is this: Some resorts list CS locations at or near their pools. What are these like? Is there seating? Can we go to one of these to eat (not planning on pool hopping by any means....Don't worry!) or is this area restricted to resort guests?

Just wondering and trying to plan out our CS....

Any suggestions for a CS on the way to DHS from WL? (YC/BC and Boardwalk seem limited, as well).

BTW - we are on the DP.

Thanks for the help with the Disney etiquette!

Check out the Beach Club. Beaches & Cream is right near Storm Along Bay and has fab burgers and awesome sundaes. Then its a nice boat ride to DHS. It will also give you an opportunity to see another resort. Hurricane Hannahs is right at the pool and has the usual burgers, chicken nuggets etc

I read that a while back & was afraid to book even a TS at DHS, however we did it anyway & it wasn't the worst meals we've ever had. We ate at Sci-Fi for lunch - really, who can mess up a burger & shake - and did the H&V Fantasmic dinner - a buffet, so again, with that much to choose from we were able to find something not bad to enjoy, plus the iced tea really hit the spot on a hot day. We actually enjoyed them both.

ANd we too are on the DP so I was looking at all the CS's & I think the one at the backlot or the pizza place sounded okay. I know it's possible to mess up a burger or pizza but if it's the difference between running back & forth I'd probably just stay in the park. We're going to give one of those CS's a try - I'm optomistic it won't be too bad, seeing as we had a decent experince with the TS.

Have fun whatever you end up doing!

Beaches & Cream is a TS, not a CS. Just something to remember if you have certain DDP credits you are trying to use. Hurricane Hannas will take a CS credit. You do not have to enter the YC/BC pool area to eat there.

If you want something more interesting than the generic malt shop stuff from the heavily over-hyped Beaches and Cream, head over to pool at Kindai Village over at the AK Lodge. At the pool bar there you can order yummy food from Saana, like Tandoori chicken!

I haven't seen anything that says you can use DDP CS at the Kidani pool bar but I suppose it is a possibility. Pool bars usually don't take DDP unless they're also a fully set up CS restaurant (like at BC/YC or Coronado Springs).

There's also the option of The Dolphin.

They have a very nice poolside eatery with decent food and a full bar available. Also, just inside is "The Fountain" that serves great flatbread sandwiches and IMO the best burgers in all of "the world".

You could then take the boat over to DHS.

Just remember that none of the restaurants at the Swan/Dolphin take the DDP so if you went to The Fountain you would have to pay OOP (can't use your room charge there either, as it is not a Disney-owned resort).

If the OP was willing to OOP this meal, I would have to second the Cabana idea at the Dolphin. We've dined there each of our last 3 trips, and found it to be a very relaxing atmosphere (especially in the evening), with surprisingly good food. And yes, I agree that the Cabana and the Fountain (both at the Dolphin) have the best burgers at WDW.

The proximity of the Dolphin, and the 7-8 minute boat ride to DHS, would fit well with the OP's touring plan for that day.
