Trying To Decide On Which Resort To Stay, Going In December 3-10. Should The Pools Be A Deciding Factor Or Not, What Is The Weather To Be Like.

We were at WDW this past 12/16-12/20 and NO one was swimming in the pools, it was way too cold. The only ones in the pool at the WL were two ducks!

The spent a few weekends at WDW this winter. We stayed at POR (Dec and Jan) and stayed at Pop (Feb). We found the quiet pools at POR to be like bath tubs, but the theme pool was too cold for us. We must have picked the coldest weekends of those months to go. The outside are was very cold, so we froze when we got out. But we brought clothing with us and used the changing rooms at the pools to change out of our suits. At Pop we went Feb 4 and that night it went down to 30 some degrees. The pool was like a bath tub there. It was so nice. But of these 2 resorts, Pops pool was the warmest!

You will swim in December. How do I know? If you wouldn't be, you wouldn't even be asking about it.

No matter the temps in Dec....it's still warmer than up north. I'm sure we'll be going in. We are staying at BWV. Can't wait! :cool1:

Depends on where you are from. If you are from Florida, you likely have stopped swimming in October. Those from further north brave the 40's ad 50's to take a dip in the pool in sunny Florida. Sometimes the water parks close if the temps get lower than about 60 degrees. I have seen some poor life guards on their chairs at the pools in 40 some degree weather... no thanks!

All of the pools are heated to about 82 degrees, so as long as you are submerged, you would be ok... it is just the "getting out" part that may be rough. Early December daytime temps are around 72 degrees.. the later in the month it gets, the further down the mercury could drop, though. Take a suit anyway, in case you get one of those unseasonal warm sunny days.

Pools are heated, getting out is the problem. Never let a theme pool influence your resort. All polls are themed to the nines. If you have children, kids would swim in a frozen puddle.

A major problem I've found with heated pools, isn't as much the expected "getting out"... we all know that's coming... while you're in the pool... at least SOME part of you is going to be out of the water (unless you're a fish). And that's the part that FREEZES! We were at POFQ at Christmas a couple of years ago... and it was SO cold I couldn't handle the pool... there was steam rising off the water!

We went to WDW this past Dec 3-11th and swam in the WL's main pool each day. Now I should mention that we're from NY state and after the weather we've had the past few weeks temps in the 60s would feel great! Seriously though, we had BEAUTIFUL weather while we were there. One day it was in the mid 80s & HOT, while most days it was in the mid 70s. :sunny:
