The pool is important to my kids. We loved the volcano pool at Poly but wanted to try GF for something different. I understand there is a new theme pool at GF with a slide and waterfall. That sounds comparable to Poly. Anybody have an opinion?

I have not been to the Poly, but we just returned from the GF. The waterfall pool also has a waterslide. My DH tried it and said it was fun. I saw kids as young as 3 or 4 y/o coming down. The waterfall is at the side of the pool about 10 feet wide. The pool wasn't very busy the evening we went. It is open 10-7 I think. The water was warmer than the main pool. It is also about 1/3 to 1/2 the size of the main pool. It has at least two lifeguards that I could see, a couple of cabana type enclosures, lots of chairs, a area of water shooting up from the area around the pool for little ones, towels, food service. It has a zero entrance...kind of like a beach. My DD7 is a water bug and loved both pools.

We satyed at the GF last summer but we have never stayed at the Poly with the new pool. But my kids didn't really like the slide at the GF, we didn't really use the pool much though.

The two pools were built very close to the same time and the main body of both is a very similar design but the slides are completely different. The GF slide is half the length and half as tall. I also remember when looking at it that I did not see that it was ever enclosed like the Polynesian.

It's been pretty cold during our two trips to the GF but my DH and one DS prefer the Poly's volcano pool over the new one at GF. Both DSs really miss the old grotto pool at the Poly but I imagine they are in the minority.

Steve,, Is that a pic of the poly or the GF slide??thanks..amy.. it looks cool..

That is the GF slide. I was looking for better pictures but I could not find them. Karen use to have some great pictures back when it first opened. We took a walk over and checked it out when we were there and it is ok but it does not look as fun as the Polynesian slide but I was not thrilled by the SAB slide either. I would say that the GF slide is much better than the AKL slide.

Thanks for the input everyone. I guess if its too tame for my group we'll head to the water parks. From looking at pictures my kids agree about the AKL slide. That's why they didn't want to stay there. The animals didn't off set what seemed like a kiddie slide to them. We may be back at Poly next time. They loved it last year.
