Pool position

Hi everyone!

I am currently looking at renting a villa at the end of October that has a north west facing pool. I am slightly concerned that we won't get any sun. It's a 2 storey home with a deck size of around 40 ft deep.

I'd be grateful if someone could share their experience of renting a home with a pool in this position.

depends more on what is around it - building, tall trees or bushes.

my house's front door is facing slight north West and it gets more than enough sun.

In Florida -- and the rest of North America -- the sun rises in the southeast and sets in the southwest. In October, the sun will be more to the south than during the peak of the summer.

However, a NW facing pool doesn't mean you won't get sun. As Pat said, your sun will depend more on what is around the pool than what direction it faces. If this is a big darn deal, I would Google Earth the property and see what it looks like from above.

Florida sun shines is hotter and generally brighter - I come from Al moved to Fl this year - and even that short distance makes a big difference. around 600 miles

I agree that you need to Google Earth it. Some of them are positioned so that they still get a lot of sun. And honestly, in October I would want the afternoon sun so NW is better than NE. That said, you will be getting sun at the parks and probably using the pool in the evenings when nobody is getting sun anyway, so it doesn't matter which way it faces. Assuming you will pay for pool heat, because in October you need to heat it no matter which way it faces. Better question, is there a spa?

There is nothing better than coming home to a heated spa and a glass of vino after 13 miles at Magic Kingdom! The kids can swim, you can decompose in the spa.
