Pool hopping?

I'm a WDW vet planning our first trip to DLR this summer. I'll be back in here time to time to ask questions. Thanks in advance for any help/advice you all can provide.

We're staying at the Villas at Grand Californian. Is the Wonderland Pool at DLH open to guests from all three resort hotels, or only to those staying at the DLH?

Second related question, how would you compare the pools at GCH to DLH?

In general, you are not allowed to pool hop. The only exception is if the pool at one hotel is completely closed. In that case, they will inform you which hotel's pool you can use instead.

Sonnyjane is correct. And since you will be there this summer, you will be happier at the Grand anyway. DLH pool will be open but is undergoing extensive renovation. I love the pools at the Grand - when my son was younger, it was a little easier to watch him. When we stayed at the villas last summer, we rented a cabana for 1/2 day to relax and enjoy. The cabanas are awesome!! Overstuffed couches and chairs, mini frig with waters and fruit plate, flat screen TV and a ceiling fan! And when we felt the urge, we jumped into DCA and rode GRR with a fastpass!

The only problem is finding a place to sit or get into the pool on a warm day.

That's for sure. If people would stick to the no saving chairs rule, we'd all be good. We've seen people go down early in the morning to put 5 towels out for their family. Not like the kids hang out at the chairs anyhow! The last time we stayed at GCH there was not a chair to be found. I ended up removing towels from chairs and the 3 of us shared 2 chairs. The little one was in the water, what did he care. You can always ask the CM's and they will also remove the towels...
