Pool hopping...where to?

We've only been to the OKW pool and this June we'll be at BWV.

For the resorts that allow hopping, which ones are worth a visit? Our DSs are 8 & 6 and love pools!

Go over to the Polynesian on the monorail system. Also be sure to check out the pool at Saratoga Springs. Sounds like it will be a nice one.

We like the Poly also. Would add Coronado springs.

Gotta ask a stupid question. Does pool-hopping really give you the right to drop in on non-DVC pools? I thought it was DVC-only, minus SAB and certain blackout periods.

Yup, it sure does, as illustrated by the fact that the pool at AKL is specifically excluded along with SAB.

I thought Saratoga Springs was on the No Hopping list? Did I misread that somewhere?

You may have read it in the FAQ that I wrote. I believe I inserted a statement that said a pool hopping restriction for SSR was "rumored." This rumor came in the form of a handful of people here who have claimed "my Guide said there would be no pool hopping."

So far, no confirmation either way.

Curiously enough, in the announcement of the pool rehab for OKW, DVC steers people toward the other (quiet) pools at that property for the rehab period. There is no specific mention of pool hopping, which is particularly curious since SSR is so close.

I guess it's a case where the pool hopping mention is conspicuous by its absence.

On the other hand, you could also argue that if DVC intended on restricting pool hopping at SSR, they would have mentioned it by now.

Only time will tell...

WL has a nice pool.

But you can't use the Swan and Dolphin pools, either. Not really Disney resorts (only kind of Disney).

I'm hoping that they do allow hopping to SSR...would be a great way to show DH the new resort and maybe an add-on in the future

I agree with this poster - and others - that the fact of the OKW slide development foretells the end of pool-hopping all togehter.

If you were WDW, think of the downside to Pool Hopping (I am not an expert - this is 100% speculation):

1) I think, by law, each pool is limited to a set number of swimmers.

2) WDW cannot gauge that number today based on occupancy of the resort.

3) As a result, they cannot figure out where to station life guards.

I am speculating that WDW will eliminate Pool Hopping all together and then staff life guards based on occupancy.


Like I said, I am not an expert, but, there is a good reason why OKW will invest a ton of money in a slide.
