I was wondering if anyone has the following pool heater

Eco Smart --it is a tankless water heater that heats the water on demand.

We have an 18 foot round that was heated by a black solar heater but solor heater bit the dust last year so it needs to be replaced. We live in the Northeastern region with cold nights.

Thanks,
Nicole

Im sorry I dont have an answer to your question, but i was wondering how you liked the solar heater??? I need to do something this summer for our pool.
Thanks

Not sure if this is the same situation but we have an 20X34 inground mountain lake pool (it goes from 4' to 8' deep). We were told by our pool service that the type of heater you are describing (essentially a heat pump) ends up being very expensive to run with the cost of power/electic in our area (I am on Long Island NY). We have a propane (there is no natural gas in our neighborhood). We turn on the heater a few hours prior to using the pool & fid it works well for us and is cost efficient.

I would call some pool services to get their input and advice.

We do like the solor heater. It will take a few days to heat your pool. Plus, it will only heat on the days it's sunny. It's worked will for us, and lasted about 5 years. We still use a solor cover to keep the heat in. But last summer we had a cold non-sunny summer so our water was pretty cold.

Since we have to buy a new solar heater I was also looking into other heat sources. I guess I will have to shop around.

PS Ebay has some good sales on the solor heaters.

A tankless water heater isn't a heat pump. Heat pump water heaters use electricity to move heat from one place to another instead of generating heat directly. Tankless water heaters heat water directly, they just don't store it for later use. You can also have gas tankless water heaters etc..

I don't have any experience with tankless pool heaters but I LOVE our tankless water heater. Tankless water heater are much cheaper to use than standard water heaters. I don't know how that would relate to heating an entire pool though. Do you have gas hookup?
