Good morning,
One of many things I know little about are heat pumps that heat the pools. I am just curious if all the heat pumps in the area are struggling to keep pools heated these days. I do not want to call a repair person if it just the result of the cold weather.
I know the basics. Gas is expensive but heats quickly; Heat Pumps work slowly but economically; They do not heat at all if temps are really low;

I do not want to call a repairman and have our owner pay for a call just to tell us the unit is OK. It is running, fan is going all the time, heater light is "on" all the time and pool temp is between 68 and 72 for last 10 days.

Thanks to any "experts" out there....

There should be a thermostat on the heater, probably accessed through a door or panel. If the heater is "on" 24 hours a day then I'd guess that the thermostat is set at about 72 or so. But pool heaters ought to be able to warm the water higher than that. Even with pretty chilly overnight temperatures a heater that's on around the clock should be able to raise and maintain a higher water temp.

I think it's worth calling the owner or property manager to ask about increasing the heat.

Thanks, temp is set at 85 so no problem with the settings there.
I will check on it thanks...any other opinions?

Is there enough water in the pool ? The pool guy that came out to our rental home in Nov said that if the water goes below a certain level the heat won't cut in. Ours had fallen below that level and the pool wasn't as warm as it should have been. Just a thought. :)
