How deep is the water where you come out of the slide. My cousin will be meeting us there for a day and wanted to know for her kids.

:rolleyes1

must be Friday...

Pools are only for Disney resort guests...blah blah blah...

POFQ pool depth is from 3 to 4.5 feet. I'm guessing deepest by the slide.

I know that and yes it is Friday....don't be smart!

My cousin is staying at a different resort on disney and wanted to come by our pool b/c of the theme. She already asked if she could and they said yes!

I wasn't being "smart"...you didn't give 100% of the information in your first post.

You're welcome by the way.

I believe the pool is either 3'4" or 3'6" at the slide itself. The entire pool varies wildly in depth in different spots. Almost the entire pool was over my DS's head on our recent visit -- he was 3'4" tall at the time. There is a little wading pool nearby for the younger kiddies.

Also, the lifeguards do not allow doubling up on the slide -- if the kids can not go down the slide on their own, they will not be able to use it. There are lifejackets available on a "first come, first served" basis.

Just an FYI, the only people who are supposed to use the pool at POFQ are guests of POFQ and POR, not that anyone will check for resort IDs. Pool Hopping is a hotly debated topic around here.

It is 3 ft 6 inches.. I know cause I went down the slide a few times and my children went down there plenty of times!

At the Polynesian it is also 3 ft 6 inches. I went down there and my children myself... this is if anyone is curious.

So a little girl about 4 foot 8 can stand up in it after coming down.
so you wouldnt sugggest my husband going down who is 6 foot 3

So basically my son who is 3 would not be able to go down with his dad? Even at that young of an age? We are going in Jan. so it shouldn't even matter but I am glad to know this ahead of time so we can try to explain it to him just in case it is warm enough to go in. Thanks for that info.

Yes, your son has to slide down by himself and his dad can catch him at the bottom. The slide is very kid friendly. I have seen some little children go down the slide and the parents catch them at the end of the slide. My daughter can't swim yet, so she uses the floaties which is by the Jester.

Yup, I was kind of shocked too. The lifeguards told DH that he could not go down with DS (who was 3 at the time). The lifeguards would allow DS to go down on his own, with or without a lifevest. Since the pool was busy and DS does not like lifevests, our only option (in our opinions) would have been to have one parent go with DS and stand in line with him (since we didn't want him out of sight for that length of time) and the other parent to wait at the bottom of the slide. But, since we have a baby girl too, that wouldn't work for us. DS is a very good swimmer for his age, but the only thing we could do was NOT have him go down the slide. :guilty:

Weather permitting, DS may be able to go down the slide on our next trip -- we'll be going with Grandma and Grampa, so there will be more people to watch the two kids. Also, DS has progressed with his swimming to the point that we might not need an adult to "catch" him so much as be present when he gets down the slide.

Well that's a bummer. I am not sure our son would go down by himself but who knows by that point. Thanks for the info.

Once he start seeing other small children going down and enjoying themselves, maybe he won't feel uncomfortable. Even I was scared at first, but when I started seeing preschoolers and Kindergarteners, I said to myself, if they can do it, why can't I? So I went a few times! And it was fun! The pool is very tame. It is not steep nor fast. It is fun too look at and the slide is not intimidating.

If the pool slide is kid friendly, it is certainly adult friendly. You are very welcome to use the slide. It's for adult and children. Did you see the picture I posted? What do you think? Does isn't look easy for the children to slide down?
