i have been looking thru the posts for a reference to this but have not found one. i hope i am not repeating common knowledge.
a family member has recently had bariatric surgery and has a card from the surgeon asking for a dining accommodation for an adult to eat from a "smaller portion menu".
will disney honor this as a company policy and charge for a child portion or will disney insist on adult payment?
any help is appreciated.

One other option is to split a plate which WDW is good about doing except at buffets and character meals if you have similar tastes to another family member.

FAQs in post 3 has the park numbers to contact for diet related issues. Them chef can handle almost any special needs.

They will allow a bariatric patient to eat the small portions at the cost of a child's plate and they do not have to eat off the kid's menu. Exception is dining plans which are full price no matter how little you eat. The dining plan says that all members of a party must purchase the dining plan thus the person with the bypass surgery would have to get the meals at adult price. Options in that case is sharing, doggie bags, buy your own meals at kid price thus giving a credit to another family member. Last one is nice if you have a hungry crowd and they would get another full meal and you could nibble.

That has some great advice. I liked the fourth post for good info.
