Polynesian Volcano Pool Closure : 2/11 thru Mid-March

The Nanea Volcano Pool will be closed to guests starting February 11, 2008 thru mid March.

Any idea what's going on during this time? I was just there this weekend and thought that the pool looked like it could use some routine maintenance, especially on the bottom of it. Thanks for the update!

The information that was released just said 'mid-March' -- my guess is that they have every intention of "trying" to get it open for Easter but of course .. with rehabs there are never any guarantees.

My understanding is that this is routine maintenance.

Does anyone know if they will allow guests to use the pool at another resort? We are planning on staying there 1 night before the cruise, and the plan was to swim all morning before the DCL bus picked us up. We stayed last Feb at the Wilderness Lodge when the main pool was closed and it was a bit of a let down.

My travel agent will kill me if I change resorts again.

We are going for out 1st stay at the POLY and were sssooooo looking forward to mid-afternoon pool breaks!

Now I will have to consider a different resort.....blah!

Remember there are a number of less sexy but still quite large 'quiet pools' VERY close to the Main Pool. They will be open and available.

There is only 1 other pool that I know of at the Poly.

My family is staying there in March when they come to visit me, and I know some of them were looking forward to the volcano slide.

The quiet pool will have to do I guess....but you think they could pick a better time....this is Presidents Week and the Resort is sold out! There will be ALOT of dissapointed people who don't frequent these boards and know ahead of time...I am sure there will be nothing but apologies from the front desk.....sigh. I know maintenence has to be done and we would complain if it wasn't.....I just wish it would happen a different time. Maybe we will get lucky and have it delayed a couple weeks.

Yes, there is only one quiet pool at the Polynesian.

Yes. Sorry that's correct there IS only ONE other pool at Poly. My error.

I am sure that they will allow you to use the pools at the GF (just as they are allowing guests of the GF to use the pools at the Poly when one of the pools is closed at the GF). This may be a big inconvenience, but at least it will help.

We stayed at the Poly during the construction of the volcano pool. Our resort passes explictly permitted us to use the pool at *any* Disney resort.

We headed over to the Beach Club one afternoon and fell in love with SAB.
