Polynesian - village versus villas

We are going to be staying at the Polynesian in April and I'm debating between staying in the main village or villas. I think I read that the villas are closer to the TTC monorail stop. How long a walk would that be? And are they much farther away from the pool?

They're all on the same property. The difference between walking from the 3 DVC longhouses and the furthest of the "normal" longhouses is 5 minutes.

Distance to pool or TTC is not really a reason to pay more for one over the other.

IMHO, I would base your decision on which room layout will work best for your family. All longhouses have their advantages in terms of proximity to resort amenities (main lobby, pools, TTC, etc.)

Polynesian Village is the name of the entire resort. There are regular hotel rooms & DVC Studio Villas within the resort. Where to stay depends on the size & needs of your family. More information would help us help you

You get two real queen beds and a day bed in a hotel room. In the studio villa, you get one queen bed, one queen sleeper and a bunk sized murphy bed.

Welcome!!! We've stayed in both types of Polynesian Village rooms - the DVC studio villa and the regular resort rooms. Everything is part of the same complex, and the villa rooms are the bungalows along with the studios in Moorea, Pago Pago and Tokelau. The TTC is just to the right of Moorea and Tokelau. It's all very close together. As Hopefully mentioned, it depends on your travel party and what's important to you.

We're a family of five and found the studio villa was very tight in terms of living space. Much of the square footage is consumed by the bathrooms. But we do LOVE the two bathrooms, and it makes getting ready in the mornings much easier. We also prefer the villa decor - just more fresh and bright. Another benefit of the villas is the increased odds of getting a balcony - regular resort rooms have patios on first floor, balcony on third but just sliding glass door with no balcony on the second. On the other hand, as a previous poster mentioned, our teen boys are sleeping on a pull out sofa in the villa. They get a real bed in a regular resort room.

So overall, our choice depends on discounts, availability and purpose of the trip. Location does not play a significant role in our decision-making. I'd probably lean toward the regular resort rooms in the future and request third floor balcony - primarily because of the space issue in the studio villa for a family of five.
