Polynesian Village Resort at Walt Disney World debuts new lobby

The lobby has been unveiled but won’t be considered finished until the rest of the construction projects are done later in 2015.

I still can't believe they did this.

The lobby was the best part of the resort, as far as theming.
It was beautiful. It was completely unnecessary to downsize it to this boring bit.

Haven't yet seen the lobby in person but the pictures leave me underwhelmed. Kind of a generic Marriott/Hilton/Sheraton lobby. Doesn't sing for me.

It is interesting that the lights are on a pulley system. I wonder if it is real.

If so, the fountain could be over-layed with a large Christmas tree the size of the ones at several other Deluxe resorts.

I actually cried when I saw what they did. I can't believe that they would take away one of the things that I think made the Polynesian so special. There was that awesome smell from the water and flowers when you walked into the lobby and it's not there anymore. So here is my sad face

Its just like any old lobby...could be anywhere in the US. I love the poly, but feel that this was a step back even if it has better "traffic" flow.

Why do they need so many sitting areas? Incidentally, they are all empty in these photos. Definitely a need for a few, but to take out the big center focal point in the lobby to add a mass amount of loveseats and chairs is nuts.

I know this is going to be part of the 7 in 7 so I'm looking forward to hearing what Pete and the Gang have to say. (Like Kool and the Gang only way better.)
