Polynesian Tower points booking

Projected Poly tower opening date is Dec 17th. As of today still no points booking showing up on the member site. I chatted with MS and they say no date for points booking has been announced.

Accepting that as the official answer, does anyone here have insight into when point booking is likely to open, based on patterns from previous resort openings?

I wish we knew! Hoping to change my Feb booking to Poly Tower. If not oh well, we’ll save 2 points a night remaining at VGF. That’s assuming Poly Tower studios follow PVB point chart, which I think likely.

First, they will have to announce when point sales will start for the resort, then once that has been announced they'll begin announcing when members can book and starting which date. It might not be until early 2025 that DVC members will be able to stay there using their points.

There is no requirement for DVD to open it to points at the same time as cash.

Maybe, but in the past owners always had a period where they could book before non- owners were allowed to do so. Since DVD declares more units into the condominium than there are points sold, chances are very good that owners will be able to book something.

FWIW, I do not think points will be allowed to book anything for 2024. Owners will have to wait until sometime in 2025. It wouldn't surprise me if DVD decides to start sales for 2025 use years points only (so no 2024 points for any use year). They've done that in the past.

That is a possibility for Poly2. The usual rule for intial reservations is that only the owners of the resort can initially make reservations when reservations are first allowed, and typically a month or more later others can try. The problem with Poly2 is that it will not be its own new resort and thus only allow new purchasers of that resort to be the first group to reserve. Poly2 will be part of Poly1 and thus all the Poly1 owners will also be able to reserve when first reservations are allowed, and thus it is possible to have a mad rush to filling what is availalble.

Big Pine Key points bookings started about 3 months before they opened. It’s probably the closest example available (more units added to existing condo association) If that holds true, we are right there.

Following up on my thread with the answer…DVC email this morning announced that Poly tower opens for points booking November 5th.

First opening of new purchase points for the Poly addition begins Oct 29th.

This is for new owners. Current owners can add on October 1st, and all current PVB owners can begin their bookings on October 15th, 2024.

Does anyone know if there is info on what floors the deluxe studios in the new Poly tower will be on ?

Anyone purchasing an add-on should make a condition to have the reservation they want booked by MS for them. New buyers can usually do this for their Welcome Home stay, but it's normally not available for add-ons. In this case, to avoid disappointment, I would ask my guide to book what I want for me.

If I have very limited choices for certain dates in February that I keep stalking, do you think that many dates COULD open up the morning of the 15th as many try to modify to the tower? I'm wondering if that's my best strategy.

What are you stalking? If tower rooms on the cash reservation site, that's completely separate inventory from what will open for points bookings on October 15. If studios in the longhouses on the DVC site, I do think some will open up as owners move to the tower. In any case, I guess you can't do much else than stalk and put in waitlists!

I was actually thinking non Poly rooms would open up as people switch out of them and into Poly

That said, they only added 40 tower units for points bookings, and not many studios.

We have just 100 point contract and go the end of Jan booking right at the 11 month window
Will the tower need points

Is Oct 5 the booking date for current owners who add on at the Tower? And Oct 15 for all PVB owners? Somehow I have Oct 5 in my calendar and I don’t plan to add on more PVB points.
