Ok, we are currently booked at the Yacht Club for 3 nights the weekend of Labor Day, well, I was playing with umbers and the Polynesian may be available for the same dates for only $64 more for the 3 nights ($22/night), which would you choose and why?

Our group is 2 couples and a 15 months old, our time will be spent between Friday early afternoon arrival (won't use park tickets until Saturday), DTD for dinner, a few hours at DHS on Saturday, Epcot Saturday evening and then MK all day on Sunday with a 2 am closing. We are expecting to take mid day breaks to swim and nap, especially on Sunday.

Having never stayed at either.... we hoped to stay at Poly for our upcoming trip, but DH vetoed the cost. I think the poly would be best with a 15 month old. Easy monorail access!!

i was going to say poly, but then read your plans.
at the YC, you can walk or friendship to/fro DHS and EPCOT. closing EPCOT, and simply strolling out international gateway back to your resort (avoiding the massive throngs of ppl pushing their way out of WS and thru future world) is fantastic :lovestruc
YC also has access to storm-along bay, a HUGE pool complex, with sand, whirlpools, etc (http://allears.net/acc/faq_yc.htm).
personally, we love both YC & poly (tho not fans of SAB pool - it gets too crowded and chaotic for our tastes).
at the poly, you would have faster/easier access for 1 of your 3 park days.
at the YC, you would have 2 out of 3. but it'll probably take a while to get back on your MK night (i would suggest driving or using the money saved to get a taxi back:)).
DTD bus service is usually so-so to poor at all the resorts - having a car is best.
there is no bad decision here, just two great options :thumbsup2

I know, I thought about those things. We have stayed at the Boardwalk several times and love the convenience. I booked Yacht Club because of the pool, but then got to thinking about the Poly, I think I did my math wrong, but still in budget, but now I'm thinking Contemporary.

We are driving down, so we will have our vehicle, but because of my ankle surgery, I will have to use an ECV and I'm not sure it will fit in our van with 5 people in there.

We only have 2 parks days, except we will have 1 day at Sea World prior to check in at Disney, but I will have a certificate for a free room at one of the Marriott hotels on their property for Thursday night.

We love both!

But you're planning time at DHS, Epcot, and in the pool.

That makes me think that the Yacht Club will be the better choice for you.

My choice would be the Poly. We haven't stayed at the YC but have stayed at the BC and while being within walking distance to Epcot and DHS is great, the Poly is just a 5-7 minute walk from the TTC to catch the Epcot monorail and is more convenient to MK. Also, I think the Poly is more relaxing with the beach for watching the fireworks, as well as the pool as it backs up to the beach with a distant view of the castle. The Poly rooms are also much larger than the BC/YC rooms, providing a little more space to spread out with a stroller and other baby things. Good luck deciding and have a great trip :wizard:.

When faced with the same dilemma, my family picked the Yacht Club. We have two kids who's favorite part of the trip will be the resort pool, so we picked Stormalong Bay.

Since your trip will mostly be about adult time, I will assume that SAB is not a primary consideration. My reflex was to say, in that case, the Poly is a no-brainer. But, since you are mostly adults, you might actually prefer the convenience to Epcot over MK. You should ask your group which park they would easy access to, MK or Epcot? Base your decision on that.

DH and I originally picked the Yacht Club for the pool, I would have picked BWI, it's my personal favorite.

SAB could be a primary consideration, possibly. Asking the group what they would like is like asking the 13 month old which resort she would choose, that's why I'm here. It's being left up to me, my husband and I are paying the majority of the bill, so the other couple said they would be fine with what I chose, making my job even harder.

Makes it easier! You don't have to poll everyone, just decide whether YOU would rather be closer to MK or Epcot. MK has more good rides, Epcot is the best for more adult pursuits (eating, drinking).

You really cannot beat the convenience of being "near" the parks. In your case, since you are planning on doing Epcot and DHS in the same day, I would probably pick the yacht club, since it gives you convenient access to both parks. If doing so from the Poly, taking a break at the hotel is a major headache.

Then again, having the 13 month old pick would relieve you of the stress and pressure you are burdened with picking the hotel others will like without their input.

I would say Poly because of the convenience of being on the monorail to MK and Epcot; handy for taking the little one out for naps, swimming, breaks, etc. With a car, you can always drive to DD & HS. Stormalong Bay is really the only thing that might lure you away, but with a toddler, you probably wouldn't be using all of the features anyway (although the sand bottom area is great for toddlers.)
It's a tough decision.

Haven't stayed at the YC, but we're coming up on our 2nd Poly trip (19 days  ) If you truly plan to come back to the resort for mid-day breaks (that's a MUST-DO for us every trip even when we stay at the non-monorail resorts,) then having the monorail access with a 15-month old can't be beat. The ability to just roll your stroller on rather than having to fold it up and lug it onto a bus is priceless. And with the Poly, you also have walking access to the TTC which will also get you the Epcot monorail and bus service everywhere else. The Poly has my vote!

Keep in mind that if you plan on staying until 2am on your last night, the monorail will not be running. That is one of the reasons that we stopped staying at monorail resorts. We close the parks, and the monorail is not available until park close on a late EMH nights.

I did know that the monorail wasn't running that late. I can't see me making it to 2am anyway.

We did pick the Poly, our firnds have increased the amount of money they can chip in so we upgraded.
