Polynesian Hawaii smoking question

I have just made our first reservations at the Polynesian in Hawaii LV. I DO NOT smoke and have a child that is allergic to smoke. I recall the third floor was/is the smoking floor. Did this change during the renovation? I want to make sure I request the proper floor. Thanks

After the renovations were complete, Hawaii came back with only half of the 3rd floor smoking. I believe it's the half furthest from the lounge. If you really want 3rd floor, request a room as close as possible to the lounge, as this way, you'll be as far from the smoking rooms as possible.

If it is a major issue with you--don't ask for 3rd floor. While it's true that the east end of that floor is "smoking optional", if there are many "smoking" requests, I was told they would use the nonsmoking 3rd floor rooms as well. Another post recently indicated that there were smokers in 3506 which is a nonsmoking room LV. Just a word of caution, if there are health issues--don't ask for the 3rd floor OR if you do, be aware there are no guarantees. People may be smoking or may not--it is an optional floor.

Agreed, that was us in 3506, and it definately smelled like smoke, housekeeping agreed and then proceeded to tear the room apart, while I don't think everyone always smoked in there, I believe the people before us did, whether or not they told anybody is another question.

My daughter has heart condition so it's important for us to have Non-Smoking, the room came out fine after housekeeping was done, just had to leave for a couple of hours while they straighten it out.
