Polynesian and Contemporary in the 1970's-1980's

I found our old paperwork from one of our first trips to WDW (from 1973) and the Contemporary last weekend at my parents' house. I was thinking of scanning it and posting it if the file wouldn't be too large.

We used to go to WDW every couple of years, but in all that time, we never stayed anywhere but the Contemporary Tower. And we never planned ahead. We'd just call and see if there was room, and then get in the car and go. Mom and Dad just loved that place. When Dixie Landings opened, we changed to that location because the Contemporary was becoming so costly.

But I'll always remember all those last minute trips to the Contemporary...

Anyone want to share their favorite memories of what staying in Disney's first two resort hotesl was like 20 years ago?

For me, it's watching the hula dancer at the Papeete Bay Verandah (now Ohana's)...and marvelling at men in suits going to dinner at the Gulf Coast Room in the Contemporary. Not to mention the Fiesta Fun Center...

I was wondering if anyone has any photos of inside the Tangaroa Terrace WDW in the 1970s early 80s. I am looking for a photo of the art mural that hung on the wall in the beginning. All i could find was one article with a far off photo of it on wordpress site. Thanks in advance for any help...

In 1973 had a tower room at Contemporary for 53.00. The Top of the World had a great drink called monorail yellow and room service coffee and muffins were under $4.00.
