poly vs okw

We just got back from our first trip to WDW. We stayed at poly because we had reservation points that had to be used at a non-dvc resort. We loved the resort and loved being on a monorail. No collapsing the stroller, easy to get to parks.

How will this compare to old key west and other dvc resorts that are on bus lines? How long will it take to get places? How hard is it to collapse a single, or double stroller and get all the stuff on the bus?

Thanks!

I have stayed at the Poly, and the bus service there is AWFUL compared to OKW. OKW has it's own buses.

I agree that the bus service at the Poly is not great but the convenience of the monorail for both MK and Epcot as well as the boat to MK are very nice.

The collapsing of strollers for buses is a bit of a pain but you won't be alone - many others will be doing the same.

From OKW you won't be getting to MK as quickly but the bus service is fine.

when you say that okw has it's own bus line, what do you mean? Does it not share with other resorts? How long to get to MK, epcot, etc? There is one night that we have ressies at Whisp Canyon. Do we have to take a bus to mk, then a boat to WL?
thanks!

You can do that or take the bus to DTD and then another bus to WL. Once you are on the bus it is probably 15 minutes to MK. OKW does not share with any other resorts but does have 5 stops within the resort. You might want to plan your day that you will be eating at WC at MK so you can just take the boat to WL. We always allow extra time because you never know how soon the bus will be at your bus stop. I would allow at least an hour to get from OKW to WL.

I love the Poly but the bus service is not great as stated...
You will probably spend about the same time traveling to Mk or Epcot in fact I think OKW is faster to Epcot. The Monorail of course well is the Monorail.
Personally I think OKW is in a great location and close enough to all the parks I have nevr felt any of the bus rides were long....
Although both resorts have different theaming they are both very laid back :cool1:
Folding strollers is no big deal you fold your stroller every time you get in and out of your own car.. at least I look at it this way.. whatever gets it done

OKW has buses to each park that run about every 15 minutes in the crunch times morning and late evening and about 30 minutes throughout the day. The ride from OKW to MK takes less than 10 minutes, and the ride to Epcot even less (more like 5 once you pull out of the resort). MGM is about the same as MK, but AK is the one that takes awhile. That bus stops at Blizzard Beach (the only shared route from OKW), and takes 20 or more once you leave the resort.

We have always felt the OKW bus service is the best bus service in WDW. I think SSR is comparable now too. We stayed at the PORS for a night last year, and I HATED the overcrowded buses there.

BTW, I agree with the suggestion to plan your WC day at the MK and just take the boat from MK. If you are going back to OKW first, you can still take a bus to MK, and then the boat to WL from there, but I would allow for waits on both ends of that just in case you happen to either just miss an OKW/MK bus or just miss the WL boat.
