Are there any age restrictions on the volcano pool? I am wondering if my 3 yr old can go down on my lap wearing his life jacket.

We jsut got back from the POLY. I dont think you will be able to take your 3 yr old on your lap. the slide is like a tunnel..it is enclosed and i dont think you will have enough room. if you have ever had an MRI..this tunnel is very similar going down.

I think the rule is "one at a time" on the slide. But when we were at the Polynesian last month, I did see one dad do just what you are thinking of doing. The slide is dark, twisting and fast. It might be frightening to a 3 year old (I know I was frightened...and I am alot older than 3:scared1: )

Don't forget that there is a water play area just for small children at the Polynesian. That might make up for not going down the slide.

Have a great trip!:goodvibes

It's one person at a time on the slide. DD was 4 during our first trip and she was a pretty strong swimmer for that age with little fear of the water. I asked the lifeguard if I could stand at the bottom of the slide and catch her after she hit the water. He said that I could stand off to the side and swim to her but not stand directly in front of it. She tried it and loved the slide part but was scared after she hit the water. The poor thing swore she'd never go on it again. It must not have traumatized her though because she went again on our next trip and loved it!

Do you know if kids can wear lifejackets on the slide? We were told at the DL hotel in Anaheim that you couldn't, which kinda sucked. Kids tend to just pop along with the current and that makes it much easier to stand to the side and catch them...

Our boys both wore their life jackets at the Poly. The Poly actually has some you can use as well, but we brought our own so we didnt have to worry if they were all being used. Also, we have always stood at the bottom of the slide waiting for our boys. We stand off to the side a little and then they waved to us from the top to let us know they are getting on the slide, then once we saw them coming down, we stepped right in front of the slide to catch them. No life guard has ever said anything to us about it...they just want you to move quickly away from the bottom of the slide once you have your child.

Yes kids can wear lifejackets on the slide. No they can not ride down on your lap. It's one at a time and I have heard the lifeguard yell at a few parents for doing this. You would be able to go down the slide first then catch your child at the end of the slide.
