Poly views aren't that bad... in fact, some are pretty good

We just checked into the Polynesian Villas and here is the view from our room (snapshot with an iPhone 5).

It's actually better than I thought it would be. I guess we lucked out with a 3rd floor view.

Now I just have to see how the fireworks look and how loud the boat horns are :)

Enjoy your stay, DVCMike! It looks like you are very near the East end of Moorea, about as close to the TTC as possible.

Hopefully the boat Captains have begun using the light system with less horn blowing at night and it will not affect your sleep, Mike. Have a wonderful stay. Your view is beautiful!

PRETTY VIEW! ENJOY!:thumbsup2

We're at the poly right now as well. In Moorea, top floor, end closest to the main building. The view is awesome. We are looking directly at the castle. Just waiting for the fireworks to start in another hour.

Just got home from there. This was our view from the third floor of Tokelau (standard view). We were happy to not be facing the pool construction, although that seems to be moving along nicely and will be lovely when completed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and hope you do, too! image.jpg

We just moved over to VGF today, and here is our view (again, an iPhone 5 snapshot).

While the view may not be as nice, the rooms and the resort are just better (IMO) at VGF. The room at PVB was simply filthy. There were fingerprints and dirt everywhere. Housekeeping had clearly not done their job. We were pretty unhappy with our stay and likely won't return.

When we stepped into our room at VGF, it was head and shoulders above PVB.

DVCMike, I hope you told the management at the Poly about your poor housekeeping in your studio. And please do write Member Sat as well. For all of us. :thanks:

Sorry to hear about your stay Mike. Please make sure to let member services know about all the problems.

Hopefully Disney receives enough reports to finally bring in the A team like they have done before when other resorts had big problems like this.

Did the horns bother you as well?

I tend to take housekeeping issues with a grain of salt; it's only as good as the last person who serviced the room, and it's unlikely that a bad job is resort policy. A call with a request to have them come by again and this time actually service the room is usually honored. It's unfortunate this has to be done sometimes, and it's an inconvenience and interruption to a vacation, but it's certainly not something that should ruin a stay.

If the resort isn't inspecting the housekeeping CM's work and retraining or firing substandard employees, then dirty rooms must be acceptable to them. To have these issues happen as often as they do is disrespectful to the guest who is paying luxury prices to stay onsite in a so-called deluxe resort.

That's a bit melodramatic. It's unlikely that management finds this acceptable.

At what price point do you think it is acceptable to provide less-than-clean rooms as a matter of policy?

Back to OP, Mike, what were the horns like? I suppose it's a matter of tolerance, but I don't recall people who stayed in Tahiti ever complaining about it before the building became a DVC property.

Getting a dirty room may be acceptable to you, it isn't to me. If management cared they would fix the issue and not run the risk of their guests getting a room with cleaning and maintenance issues. Disney posts a profit of about 2 BILLION per month, if they cared they would spend some money and clean all of the rooms.
