Poly Question for Anyone Recently in Samoa Bldg

I have reserved the Poly for next June and requested the Samoa building. For anyone that has stayed there recently, I am concerned that it was a smoking optional bldg until 2003. I know it has been refurbished since then. But, my son has cough-variant asthma, and if there is any smoke-smell lingering in the carpets it would bother him. Can anyone tell me if they noticed anything like this at all? Tikiman, do you know if the refurbishment included replacing the carpets and pads?

We just returned from the Poly 9/30 - 10/6, and stayed in room 1613 in the Samoa Building. We loved it! So close to the pool, Ceremonial Building and everything else!

Our room had no smoke smell or musty smell, carpet looked to be very new. Room was very clean, but we did see one cockroach in the bath after my DS left a wet towel on the floor all night. I guess that's somewhat normal for Florida but grossed me out!

Enjoy your trip, we loved the Samoa building and I'm sure it was recently refurbished as everything seemed new and clean.

We stayed in room 1608 in July, direct view of the Volcano Pool, one of our favorite GV rooms at the Poly and never smelled even a "hint" of smoke.

Great location!::yes::
