Which long house should I request?
I would like a room which has recently been refurbished.

I would like to be near the GCH as we plan on going to MK at least twice, but I would also like to be near TTC (going to Epcot). We also plan on going to AK.

We have 2 kids--one has severe asthma so we definitely need a non-smoking room.

We will be there from 2/24-2/28. (just switched ressies from WL--I just wanted to stay at a Monrail resort)
Help!!

Check out Tikiman's website http://tikiman2001.homestead.com/ for great overviews of each longhouse, the views, and which have been recently renovated/updated. It's really a matter of preference and you don't really indicate what you are looking for, e.g., do you want to be close to the Great Ceremonial House/bus stop/boat launch/TTC/pools, etc.

If I were to choose another longhouse other than the concierge building (Hawaii), I suppose it would be Samoa or Tuvalu. Then again, Tahiti has larger rooms and is nearer the TTC which we use all the time for quick EPCOT transportation access. It really just depends on what you desire--take a look at Steve's site OR let us know what your preferences are with respect to view, etc.--we'll be glad to help! :)

We stayed in Raratonga in June. It had just reopened and is completely non-smoking (Mom has asthma). We found it "practically perfect in every way." It is right next to the main lobby and right near the quiet pool. Very short walk to the Volcano Pool. It is in the front of the resort so you are a few steps from the bus stop and parking lot, or you could walk easily to the TTC. Keep in mind that the buildings closest to TTC are a bit of a hike to the lobby. We much preferred being close to the lobby. My children felt very independent as I trusted them to go refill mugs "all by themselves." Our rooms were in perfect shape. If we went out the opposite end of our hallway, we were right at the laundry, arcade and Neverland Club. We felt right in the middle of everything.

We had requested Samoa building but wound up thinking Raratona was even better. Samoa is a bit further back, closer to the volcano pool. Raratonga was perhaps a bit more peaceful. We had a ball.

Hope this helps. :wizard:

We stayed in Rarotonga as well - and I agree with the previous poster!! lol we also had requested Tuvula, after much research on Tikiman's site (thank you so much for all that btw!! It really helped create excitement before our trip! Esp loved the monorail audio clips!!)

But I decided not to say anything, but to go with the magic that was given us... and I honestly didnt think there was a bad room or area.. the beach and the fireworks from the Poly are stupendous!! Our dd 8 we couldnt get her out of the pool, and how much fun and memorable to stand in the pool and watch the fireworks every night. We had our fun in the sun, and relaxed at night!!
