We will be staying at the Poly in Oct  and my DM and DF will be staying off site. Will they be able to come to the Poly and park and ride with us on the Disney boat or monorail to the parks? They will have their own MYW tickets.

I have read that the self-park is limited to 3 hours, but what about the valet. I also read that valet is complimentary with the handicap placard. Just tip the valet. Is there a time limit with valet?

If this plan does not work, is there a better idea? Like one night we are going to have dinner at the hotel and then go to Magic Kingdom for the parade. Would they need to move their car after dinner or would it be better to just park at TTC and take the monorail to Poly.

DM will have an ECV in the parks, but is not bringing her home model with her. So, the walk from TTC to Poly would be too much for her.

Any thoughts would be appreciated! I tried to search this topic before posting, but the search engine was down. Sorry if I am asking a redundant question.

you are staying at the Polyn right? and you want your friend to visit with you and go into the parks with you.

How many are in your party? if only 2 - then you get them a parking pass too - just include them on your reservations (or not). Now if you 5 in your party that is the limit at the Polyn.

Polyn handicapped parking is not in an area easy accesiblity - which it has to be - so they offer valet parking. So far no one has reported being tolled from the valet parking. (but doesn't mean it won't happen). but most places would leave a handicapped car there.

you can get her a wheelchair just ask the bell services for one. they may when they valet park her park - get her one - if they notice she is having problems walking. Some will. Some don't want to be insulting.... So it is better if she ask for one.

remember the Polyn is BIG. It is more spread out than the value resorts. So if you want to be there when she drives up (so they know she is with a Polyn guest) - I would suggest leaving your room when she turn left at the traffic light.....

Unless your parents are staying with you at the Poly, they are technically not permitted to park there unless they are dining/shopping at the resort. The 3-hour rule is enforced even for valet parking, especially at the MK resorts.

However, that being said, if you will not have a car, you could give them your parking pass. I wouldn't add them to your ressie, since that would add $50/day for the two extra adults- not worth paying $50 bucks a day to save $8 on parking!

Thanks for the replies. My folks will not be staying with us. They are staying off site. We will have our car, so I cannot give them my parking pass.

If the 3 hour rule applies to valet parking at the Poly too, then what should I suggest they do to meet us. Should we just always plan to meet at the parks or should they plan to park at TTC and ride to Poly on the monorail?

What do y'all suggest?

If she is planning on renting an ECV in the parks, keep in mind that there is no guarantee there will be any to rent when she gets there.

If she is planning on getting an ECV in the parks every day or nearly every day anyway, she might be better off renting an ECV from one of the offsite companies (there is information in the disABILITIES FAQs thread about where to rent from).
Since they are driving to the parks, if she doesn't have an ECV with her, they would be better off parking in the regular lot at MK (let the CMs know that she has a disability and ask to park near the tram pick up point). The parking lot tram will take you to the TTC. From there you can get the boat to MK (a bit longer walk than the monorail), or take the monorail (a walk up a steep, long ramp to the 2nd floor level station).

As was mentioned, if they park at the resort, there is no guarantee that they won't be limited to a 3 hour parking pass.

Provided you remain within the limit of guests for your room, you could always add your parents to your reservation at no cost. They would then be eligible for a parking pass that would alow them to park at the Poly at any time. Your mother would be entitled to free valet parking (but remember to tip). Her pass would entitle her to free parking at any park.

I would assume (though you would need to check with Disney), that you could have two car parking passes linked to a single reservation.

Nope. We are at our reservation limit, so we cannot add my parents to the reservation.

I guess I just need to know where to suggest they park if they want to meet us at our hotel room at the Poly and then go with us from there to one of the parks. A couple of nights we have dinner or a show planned at Poly in conjunction with a trip to one of the parks.

Sounds like they should park in the regular lot at TTC, showing their handicap placard so they can get close to a tram pick up. Then take the monorail from their to the Poly.

Otherwise, they will be limited to 3 hours at Poly if they park there.

Do I have it right, folks? Thanks so much for all your input!

Maybe I should post this question on the transportation board . . .

Thanks again to all who weighed in!
