Trying to decide between these 2 resorts. Have children age 10 and 7 with us, 2 adults.
I have one child who loves the monorail. I love the Poly theme. I'm also drawn to walking to Epcot and the Yacht pool looks great.
Both of these resorts would be great for dh and myself but we also want the kids to have fun and enjoy the resort as well.
What's your input on these 2 resorts?
I'm stuck.

Yacht Club has Stormalong Bay, which is better for older kids, I think, than the Poly pools.

If you get park hoppers, you can walk through Epcot to the monorail.

Our family loves the Poly. We have 3 kids. Stayed at Beach Club in Jan for Marathon Weekend adults only and loved the resort, Stormalomg Bay and the walk to Epcot/DHS. So we are going to try a split stay in May with 3 days Beach Club and 4 days Poly. I think our kids will really love Stormalomg Bay. A split stay seemed like a great option to try out Beach Club with the kids.

Being able to walk to 2 parks is the reason we prefer the Epcot resorts.

Both are great resorts. But I'd go with Poly. I love the MK resorts a tad more because there's just something magical about seeing the castle from resort, and in evening watching the Electric Water Parade and Wishes from your resort. And at Poly, you have monorail or boat yo MK and walk to TTC for Epcot.

I have stayed at both and prefer the Yacht Club. We really loved being able to walk to Epcot, and we loved Stormalong Bay! It was also nice having the Boardwalk area, and being able to take a boat to DHS.

We're doing a split stay at both properties starting next Sunday. We loved features of both properties and couldn't decide between the two so we're doing both.

I agree that a split stay would be ideal. But to choose one it would be the Yacht Club. We love the theming of the Poly and their restaurants but love the ability to walk to EPCOT. We all would walk into the countries for some sort of meal or snack. My DH and kids love the fish and chips at the UK and would walk to get lunch and come back to the resort. We also love the walk to the Boardwalk at night. There are nice outdoor entertainment.
The last time we stayed at the Poly - it was during the construction and it wasn't the greatest. There were barricades up everywhere and so it made for a lot of walking to get anywhere - especially to the boat - we also had our parents with us and it was a lot of walking for them. That won't be the case when you are there and I would like to stay there now that the construction is over. So I think either resort will be lovely.

Polynesian--theming and general ambiance. I like the pool there. The pool at YC is great if you are going to spend a lot of time there. The proximity to EP and HS is also great. I'm not that big a fan of HS, so EP is the only plus for me, but u can get there by Monorail from the Polynesian fairly quickly. And, nothing beats having that easy access to MK, GF, CR and then boat to WL or FW.

I love them both (although we usually stay at the BC). We love the Epcot area because we can walk to two parks and we enjoy the Boardwalk. My kids love SAB, too. We love the Poly because we enjoy the proximity to the MK and having monorail access. I love sitting by the pool or on the balcony and hearing the MK train whistle. Seeing Wishes from the beach is great, too. It's a hard decision and one we can't make so we did a split stay last year and have another one booked for this summer. You really can't go wrong with either resort.

I agree with this. We haven't tried the YC but have stayed at the BC and while the Epcot area is nice, we prefer being in the MK area (the Poly is also our favorite resort overall). In addition to the above, the Poly rooms are quite a bit larger, all rooms have a daybed, and we find there to be a better variety of both CS & TS options among the monorail resorts than we do the Epcot resorts. We also like the Poly pool more than SAB. SAB was nice to try, but we weren't wow'd by it and prefer other resort pools, with the Poly being at the top of the list.

We had the exact same decision to make, and our kids are the same ages. We decided on Poly for a few reasons. First, we plan on spending 3 of our 7 days at Magic Kingdom, so being on the monorail was preferred. Second, I actually prefer the pool at the Poly. My idea of relaxing is sitting by the pool, cocktail in hand, watching the kids play in the water. I was a little worried that Stormalong Bay is too big, and I can't relax if I don't have the kids in my sights, especially since my 7-year-old isn't a good swimmer.

I agree with all these!

We like both resorts, but the Poly is our first choice too.

This is what we often do as well. Split stays are wonderful because you get to take advantage of the benefits of staying in both the MK and Epcot areas. Plus you get to experience two different resorts. It is almost like two vacations in one.

Some of the main things that I like about the Poly:

Large rooms
view of Wishes from the resort
Wonderful, relaxing theme
Great dining
Nice pool
non bus transportation options to Epcot and the MK

Some of the things that I like about the YC:

walking distance to two theme parks
great pool
nearby access to lots of dining in WS as well as walk around to 4 other resorts
almost all rooms have a balcony

I know! When my son was 10 and a decent swimmer I couldn't relax because there are so many parts over his head, all over. Especially the lazy river. And what part do you think he kept wanting to go to? Lol! Anyway I had to stand in there but kept moving around and with all of the rafts flying into me, I don't even think I could get to him there and it was deep there. I made my husband go in with him after that, lol!

If your kids are swimmers & you're going in warm weather, Yacht Club is a no-brainer. The Poly pool was people soup the time we stayed there, & in addition seemed relatively small. Stormalong Bay was like having a mini-water park at the resort, a vacation within a vacation. The pool has a CM scanning people's bands at the entrance, unlike at Poly (which did have a gate, but no monitor.) It wasn't crowded at all, even on July 4th weekend. It has a great slide, lazy river, whirlpool area, sandy bottom, and multiple hot tubs- we loved it. We also watched fireworks from Stormaolog Bay.

You'll still get to use the monorail if you do monorail resort meals on MK or Epcot days, or if you park hop from MK to Epcot, for example. We've only stayed at monorail resorts twice but have always ended up using the monorail on each trip, even the time we stayed at Pop Century.

In addition, Yacht Club/Beach Club has several great restaurants, and is in walking distance to the Boardwalk and the Fantasia mini-golf course (& of course Epcot & HS).

If your kids aren't swimmers, or if you have a moral objection to lazily reclining in one of multiple lovely hot tubs after a long day at the parks:cloud9:, stick with the Poly.

My family stayed at Poly 4 years ago and loved the location. Quick access to MK, watched the fireworks from the resort, walked to Ticket & Transportation Center to hop onto monorail to go to Epcot. Kids were 7, 5 & 3 at the time. This summer staying at Yacht Club and everyone super excited to be staying there. We have wanted to try either Beach Club or Yacht Club for a few years, but at the younger ages MK resorts were more ideal. Everyone looking forward to Stormalong Bay and trying out a new resort.

We just got back from YC. It was a great resort. Kids adored the pool and actually wanted to stay at the pool rather than go to the parks (which can be good or bad). While I would probably prefer the Poly to be close to MK if price were the same, in our experience, price is never the same. We have generally found YC to be somewhere from $50-150 a night cheaper than the Poly, so we chose YC.

The back entrance to Epcot is fantastic. So much quieter and more peaceful than the main entrance.

I will say that walking to HS seemed quite a hike. It was convenient and a beautiful walk, but I was pushing a heavy toddler in a heavy stroller so that may have made it seem longer than it would otherwise have been.

I can't speak for the Poly because we have never been but we stayed at YC the past 2 visits and are going back for a 3rd. Our 9 year old DS LOVES the pool and we can't convince him to try out any other resort. Of course, it's not his choice, but we also love the Yacht Club so we stick to what we like. I also love that the rooms have balconies and my husband and I spend quiet time out there in the evenings which is really nice. We relax with a glass of wine or a beer and reminisce about our day :) We also have breakfast out on the balcony too which is fun.

The reason my son loves the pool so much is because you get the best of both worlds, a beach and a pool. He loves finding friends and building sand castles, digging holes, etc. and also loves the water slides too. We find time almost every day to hit the pool on a mid day break or in the evening.

Good luck making the decision, I think you will love either resort that you end up choosing!
