Poly or GF for Christmastime?

Hi All!
I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on the GF vs. Poly for Christmastime. (We have seen both during non holidays- never stayed at GF). We are booked for our December trip at the Poly but I am considering switching to GF for the Christmas atmosphere. I have heard that the decorations in the lobby are unbeatable at GF. We do have a breakfast and dinner scheduled there, so we will have two opportunities to check out the decorations in the lobby. Is there anything about actually staying there that makes it even more magical at Christmas?
I'm also wondering if the GF is too "stuffy" for children. My daughters are 7 and 5 and son is 2, so they couldn't care less about marble floors and chandeliers! Is it a resort that's better suited for adults? Thanks for your input!

For me I would pick the GF over the Poly for Christmas. IMHO, the GF is a tie with the WL when it comes to resorts during the Christmas season. In fact I would highly recommend you to take the boat over to the WL and check out that resorts lobby during your visit; it will be well worth your time. As for stuffy? No way. Elegant, yes, stuffy no. Also there is a very fun splash area next to the pool that the kids absolutely will love if the weather is warm enough. You will find there are kids everywhere at the GF and there are plenty of things the kids will love there.

Thank you! That's very helpful. I was originally planning to stay at WL because it definitely appears the most "Christmasy," but would prefer to be along the monorail. Now I just have to decide if the cost increase to move from Poly to GF is worth it for the extra holiday cheer!

I agree! The Poly is our favorite resort overall, but the GF is more festive during the holidays. All of the resorts are decorated nicely, but the GF (and WL) are the best, IMO. As is mentioned above, the GF is elegant, but not stuffy and is just as kid friendly as any other resort .

The GF is gorgeous during the holidays, but if you find that the extra cost wouldn't be worth it, you will still have a great time at the Poly and can experience the Christmas atmosphere when you visit the GF .

GF is gorgeous at Christmas. No resort does it bigger this time of year. Watch some videos of The Grand at Christmas. With the band playing, the meet/greet with Mickey and Minnie in colonial attire. It is very "magical."

Love the GF any time, but especially at Christmas! Everyone talks about the gingerbread house and tree and decorations, but the jazz band playing live holiday music adds a ton of charm and joy to the scene too.

Only thing I would mention is that GF is very busy and a lot of hustle and bustle with people visiting the decor. Not as peaceful as poly.
