Hi fellow disers - can anyone offer some opinions on which deluxe resort they would choose? This is our first time in a deluxe :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc I am currently leaning towards the BC for it's pool b/c my 11 yr old dd loves swimming and I'm sure she'll adore Stormalong Bay.

Thanks.

With an 11yr old, I'd definetly go with BC - the pool cannot be beat;) BC is so convenient to everywhere and all the resturant choices make it nice to be in that area as well. Plus the Poly does not have a hot tub, I like to soak my feeties after walking around the parks all day.

Have fun!

For us, we would definitely go to the Poly. We did a split stay at both last trip and we just enjoyed the atmosphere at the Poly better. It seems more laid back to me. The monorail access and the view of the water parade and fireworks doesn't hurt either! Have fun!

depending on the length of your stay, why don't you consider splitting your stay between both?...we do that every year...this august we will be staying at the Boardwalk (villas) for 3 nights and then switching over to the Poly (concierge) for 4 nights....this way you get a taste of the two different resorts...also, you can visit MGM studios and epcot while staying at the BC and then the MK when staying at the POLY...

We just got back from the BC and although DS11 loved SAB, when we go back for Halloween we will be staying at the Poly. DS likes it there better. The transportation seemed better than at the BC and DS and DH love MK, so that is where we want to spend the most time. I loved the BC and would stay there again. I think either place is amazing. I do have to say though, that waking up and opening the curtains and seeing Cinderella's castle is the best.

Oooh thanks for the opinions so far but I'm still not sure so the more the merrier  I loved the Poly when we ate at Ohana's last trip but the BC was sooo pretty and of course the pool and hot tub is a big draw. What is the pool at the Poly like? I didn't get to see the Volcano Slide up close as it was night and raining a bit!! We love MK, MGM & Epcot pretty much equally  Since we are only staying 3 nights b4 leaving for the cruise, I won't be able to split the stay although trust me I would if I could

We are a family of 4 and we always debate this back and forth because we love BOTH of them so much! So depending on the time of the year.....and how much time we are going for at Epcot vs MK is how we choose!! Love being able to to walk through the International Gateway..but LOVE being on that monorail and having the fast watermice!

I would stay at the Beach Club unless you have a little one who wants to spend most of the time in the MK. I have stayed at the BC, YC, BCV, BWI, BWV, Dolphin, as well as the GF and WL. I am going to split my next trip with 4 days at BCV and 3 days at Poly. I absolutely love the EPCOT hotels and the BC is just great. I think the location beats even the monorail resorts. You can walk into Epcot, and take the boat to MGM( or walk it if you are so inclined). Stormalong Bay is great for a tween:) There is more to do there too. You can walk the Boardwalk and see entertainment or go into Epcot . My daughter loves to shop in the Epcot countries and love the rides in MGM etc. I always feel so priviledged to among the few lucky few who get to walk through the International Gateway after Illuminations instead of the mob scene at the monorail and the parking lot. The walk is so nice too. She will love Cape May and Beaches and Creme. Pick out a oyster with a pearl at the little place near the pool area. There are also water mice and minature golf close by. Take an Illuminations cruise. I haven't managed to take a vacation without staying at least for most of it at an Epcot resort.:teeth: :teeth: ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

This is a tough call! We always prefer to stay at either the YC/BC due to it's location to Epcot and MGM. The pool is also a big factor. This year we are returning to the Poly as we plan to spend more time at the MK b/c we are bringing our 8 year old niece. We are also bringing our 22 year old niece so we wanted a larger room for 5. Poly rooms are larger than the YC/BC. I haven't been to the Poly since they rehabbed the Volcano pool but the prior pool was a lot of fun but not as much fun as SAB. Since you have not stayed at either resort before, your daughter will not be able to compare the two pools and will enjoy either one. Another consideration which you may want to think about is that the YC/BC does not have a quick place to grab a snack/meal and the Poly does. That is my only complaint about the YC/BC. Beaches and Cream is wonderful but it is usually packed. It is worth waiting for but sometimes you just want to catch a quick snack, lunch, or breakfast. I also feel the YC/BC is the hardest place to refill your mugs. You have to refill them at Beaches 'n Cream or Hurricane Hannas. We have stood in line for 20 minutes. Other times it is not as long of a wait. Once we started to stay concierge, these issues were no longer a concern. YOu can't go wrong with either choice. Happy deciding!!!

With an 11 yo I would choose the Beach Club.

My vote would be the Polynesian. There are many activities for kids at the pool, beach, Neverland Club and all over the resort. The kids love the monorail and it makes it fun and easy to get to the MK and Epcot is an 8 minute ride away. The rooms are much larger at the Polynesian and you get a big balcony or patio as apposed to the little balcony at the BC. Actually I would even pick the YC over the BC if you have to stay over in that area.

Well that is my vote.

Aloha

Another vote for the Polynesian. My whole family prefers it to the BC.

Much bigger rooms, three beaches, no baby balconies, great CMs.

We also prefer the restaurant choices including all the choices at GF and CR that are just a monorail or boat ride away.

It is so much more convenient than the BC for MK and we find it as convenient for most of EPCOT with the exception of the WS countries closest to the International Gateway. For MGM, it is a slow boat ride from BC or a bus ride from the Polynesian. We prefer using a car from either resort to MGM.

Stormalong Bay is very cool but my family actually prefers the Volcano pool and beaches.

Most of all, the Polynesian is just magical for us. The BC seems like another pretty hotel.

this question because it's too hard. They are both WONDERFUL resorts. In fact, until this Feb the BC was our favorite. Then we stayed at the Poly and we're torn. In fact, I've been known to say that the Poly is my new favorite.

Nonetheless, they are both wonderful yet different experiences. The Poly is so tranquil. The Epcot resort area is wonderful. But pool-wise - Stormalong Bay can't be beat.

You can't go wrong either way.

Thanks every1 but now I'm 4 to 4. Can anyone break the tie??? I think though since we've never stayed at a deluxe b4 and it's only going to be me and my dd, I am going to switch to the Poly. We loved the whole theming there and the lushness of the grounds. More importantly, I will be able to see her when she goes up to the slide and I'm a protective Mom. I'm afraid that Stormalong is so big I won't be able to keep my eye on her while I'm sipping my Rasberry Margarita lol !!! She loved the slide at CSR too so I'm hoping this one is at least as good. ::MinnieMo

I'm a protective Mom too but the slide only comes out in one area of Stormalong Bay. I sit in that area and you will see and hear them come out. ( although I agree with you that it would be nice to see when they are coming down). What park will your daughter want to spend most of her time? That is really important. My 12 year old likes the MK but wants to spend more time in Epcot ( The MK is getting so crowded it has been ridiculous). They also love seeing the Epcot ball and Illuminations every night. We love strlling through the counties at night( so much entertainment, good food and fun shopping).I like the Yacht Club very much too. It has wonderful views of Illuminations and they have great balconies:) If you are going to the Poly...Enjoy. We are going to give it a try for three nights in December. I've stayed at the GF and loved it. The castle view was very nice. I got the biggest kick out of hearing the howling from the haunted mansion. I prefer the location of Epcot resorts though...JMO. Have fun!!!:wave2: :wave2: :wave2:

These are my two favorites too!
If you've never been to either one, I'd say try the Polynesian first. If you're staying long enough (8 days or longer), consider a split stay. Last year we stayed 6 days at BCV and 2 days at the Polynesian just because we missed it!

The Polynesian isn't "just for MK". You can get to Spaceship Earth just as fast from the Polynesian as from the Beach Club, and with less walking!

::yes::

We too often split BCV/Polynesian stays now that we own at BCV. And I agree that for a longer stay, it would be nice to split between Polynesian and BC...maybe 8 nights Polynesian/1 night BC or YC.:teeth:

.....but we spend most of our time at Epcot in the Countries and it is a hop skip and a jump to get there from the Epcot resorts and there is no waiting for the monorail:) We walk in for a lot of meals too! You can also hear the "Beatle group" playing from the United Kingdom in parts of the BC area. It is so coollllllllll ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

LOL this is such fun and thank you all again for your detailed opinions. It helps one to make a decision such as this!! But, since this will be our first time staying in a deluxe as part of the land/sea vacation, I think I've made up my mind to stay at the Poly!!!

Last time we were in WDW my dd loved the Poly when we ate at Ohana's whereas she was less than thrilled with the sand in Stormalong Bay - Lil Diva I call her  We happened to walk by the pool on our way to Beaches & Cream and to be fair, it was raining and she was a bit miserable. Of course she was 9 yrs. old at the time too ;)

Next time, however, I think we may try somewhere new although I think you always worry if you'll like it as much but then again who cares your in WDW right??? ;)
