Hi there,

We are having almost 50 people to the luau as the rehearsal dinner for our wedding, including 3 children under 3. Now, since the children's price is for ages 3-11, it leads me to believe that babies and toddlers are free. Is that true?

But don't you still have to let the restaurant know they're coming so that they leave seats open for them?

I've never dealt with making reservations for little ones before. :)

Thanks!
Kerry

Yep. Under 3 is free. My DD thought it was boring though and we thought the show was very lame. Food was not good either.

Yes they are free, and yes, you are right you need to let them know they will be there. The reservation will list them as "infant" and won't be calculated in your cost.

Just so you have a point of comparison -- we loved the Luau. We just saw Hoop de Doo a couple of weeks ago and I have to say as for the two shows, we thought the really "lame" one was Hoop de Doo. That show's corny humor wore on us real fast. And, the washboard playing finale -- well, let's just say I'd rather stand next to a jet taking off -- it would be less noisy and more pleasant.

As for the Luau, we enjoyed it immensely and would go again. Some of the Polynesian and Tahitian dancing is quite impressive and the kids enjoyed the fire dancers.

We liked the salad, the pineapple bread and the ribs. We didn't like the dessert. We had tasty pina coladas and really enjoyed ourselves.

I think it helps to be seated up front, so I hope they will try to accommodate you on that given the size of your party and the expense!

Enjoy!

Thanks everyone! So... that'll save us $75, which is nice. :)

lyncruiser,
We made the reservation (and paid in full!) a long time ago... back in February, I think... for the show in November, so I hope that factors into getting good seats. But we're about to have all the RSVPs in from our guests, so I'll need to call back soon and reduce the size of our party... they told me to go ahead and book a generous number of seats and then we could reduce when we know the exact party size, but they couldn't guarantee anything if we wanted to add. But I think I only overestimated by about 8 adults and 5 kids, which isn't bad considering the group size! Anyway... it'll be nice to get that refunded!

I know there are mixed reviews for this show, but it seems like more good than bad... and we'll be with so many friends and family... I don't see how we *wouldn't* have fun. Considering the food, unlimited beer and wine, and entertainment, it seemed like a good way to go for our group, rather than doing a catered event (which we'll be doing the next night for our wedding, anyway).

Hi pouncingpluto,

Glad to hear you booked so far in advance. You should have very good seats. We only booked about 2 months in advance and we were on the front row. Just be sure that when you change the number of guests attending that they don't re-book you with a new booking date. Make sure they keep your first booking date and just reduce the number.

I think you'll have a great time. The luau is, IMO, a great choice for a large group of family/friends. As I recall, couples celebrating a wedding or anniversary are announced and "Hawaiian Wedding Song" is played, so that should be nice.

We had lots of fun! Hope you enjoy it.

My Dh and I went there on our honeymoon and we loved it!!! I am desperatly seeking the rice and bread recipe:)
