I love atmosphere. Stayed at the poly and fell in love. This time im thinking of doing a couple days at the wilderness lodge then switching to the poly. I walked around and thought it looked nice and cozy.
Poly lovers, will i be at the wilderness lodge wishing i only booked the poly?

Hi. We've stayed at both and loved them both.:thumbsup2 They are totally different, but that is a good thing. The Wilderness Lodge is beautiful and the lobby is jaw dropping. It was really nice to hop on a boat and go straight to the Magic Kingdom. The pool is nice, restaurants on site were great, and rooms were nice. It was fun to watch the Electric water parade from the beach.:)

We've stayed at both and love both for different reasons, but the Poly is our favorite of the two. With that said, if the WL appeals to you enough to want to give it a try, I think spending the first 2 or 3 days there and then transferring to the Poly would be a good idea and will give you a better feel for the WL over just visiting. The atmosphere is beautiful, Roaring Forks is great for quick CS meals, the pool is great, and the boat is relaxing for going back and forth to MK. I can't promise that you won't miss the Poly, but if the theme/decor and atmosphere of the WL appeals to you, I think it's a good idea to try it out. Good luck.

IMO, the Poly and WL are in a virtual tie as to which resort is my favorite in WDW. I prefer the theming, the pool and the lobby of WL. I prefer the transportation options to MK & EPCOT, the larger room size and the pool slide of the Poly. Too bad they aren't one big resort. ;)

I think it's worth trying out the WL for a few days, then moving over to the Poly. We've done splits like that when we want to try out a new WDW resort and so far we've never been unhappy and never wished we just stayed at the favorite. You'll be moving to the Poly in a few days, and you know you'll be happy there. And who knows... you might discover you have a new favorite!:goodvibes

I would so WL for a few days solely for the cost savings. I don't think you can go wrong with WL and if you decide you don't care for it, at least you will know!

We have stayed at both, CL level. We have stayed PR CL many times and tried WL during a spilt stay with WL first. We got to try WL and it was nice, but we were glad to get to the PR. Our favorites are found in the monorail loop and Epcot resort area.

Well I will be the odd person out -

We have stayed at the Poly many times and love everything about it - we come from NE so we are looking for some unique theming - so we LOVE the Tropical feel of the resort.
WL holds absolutely no appeal to us - the woods/forest thing...*meh* - we can get that atmosphere at home. :)

These are my favorite resorts. Poly will always hold top card in our hand, but WL is awesome too. We've done this split stay 3 times, and probably will do so again some day. Go for it!

I am totally in favor of your plan as both a split stay planner and a Poly/WL veteran. :) It is nice being able to try something new with the added mental security that you have the place you love to look forward to as well. The Poly and WL aren't anything alike, of course, except that they share a truly submersive theming (theming that appeals to me!). WL's only true downside for me is the smallish rooms, indeed my family can't stay there unless we stay in a junior suite (pricey) or at the villas (doesn't appeal, I like the Lodge!) but I have had several happy stays there on mom and son trips.

We have stayed at both, and we are not big fans of the WL. It just didnt "do it " for us. I would either pay a few dollars more and stay at the AKL, or a few dollars less and stay at CS.

The Poly is just awesome anytime the budget allows!
